Love the Blue and the Red channel. I can not find a decent tone on the so called clean/Green channel!

congrats! This will most likely be my next amp. Or the 50w head. Can't decide. Leaning toward the combo for the power soak and the fact that it has more gain.

My 5150III 2 X 12 combo clean channel is the same way unless I have it up at gig volume. The cleans are there but it takes some work. You may have to back off your volume about a 1/4 turn depending on your guitar. At louder volumes it cleans up okay. A little bit of that reverb goes a long way also.

I'm just used to the beautiful cleans of a Hot Rod Deluxe.

I ordered a 5153 2x12 combo today from the Guitar Center used site for $1099 just to try it out. I got them to send it 2nd day free shipping to my local GC store, so I'll pick it up this Thursday. I already got shipping confirmation & tracking #.

With 30 days to try it out I can't lose......If I like it I keep it......if not I return it to the store & I've paid nothing.

Have I told you I love the GC used site

The 5150III combos are great! Congrats. I'm borrowing a friends while he is away and love it!

I'm thinking the best route is to get a Fender combo for cleans and do an A/B/Y pedal. Best of both worlds.

The clean channel is great, if the gain is set low. But it's not a true 3 channel amp set this way.

Like I said, I'm used to my Hot Rod Deluxe chimey liquid cleans at high volume.

Anyway here is my pedalboard set up.

that is what I do I use a cranked Princeton reverb and an A/B/Y

THE EVH line is good tones...but my combo is way more pleasing to my ear over my other guitarist's 50w head. Just an observation, but I love the combo.

:jedi: :force: What is the blue light in the picture ? I think lights on amps are cool. Plus the ladies like lights and shit that blinks. I tried out for a band and there was two women in the band and all they talked about was all the cool blinking lights in my rack. I think I got the gig because they just wanted to look at the cool blinking stuff on my tuner and tap delay button. COOKOO

It's the blue light from my power brick reflecting on the EVH symbol.

How does that power level knob work out for you? Have you tried holding a chord while adjusting it?

This was a key turning point for me. When I compared the versatility of this at whisper volume....it was stunning. Fully saturated hi gain at whisper volume. When I played the head at very low volume, granted it sounded good, but no comparison to the power level knob.

This amp is truly stunning. Resonance knob, midi, great effects loop, HEADPHONE JACK! It is amazing.

Not gonna lie, I was hoping you were going to say it was "meh"...I am gassing hard for a 5150iii head, but the lack of that knob is really making me rethink my approach...

Right here are the two I played side by side. Easy comparison...

I just got the head version .... fucking killer. Given I have never liked combo's the head was the best option for me

The resonance control really helps as well at that lower volume. I tried one of the 100W heads as well at a very low volume and it sounds great as well.

Received my 5153 2x12 today & the thing is killer! Maxed the gain on the clean channel & jammed loud as hell for an hour & then at just under 9 o'clock gain on the blue for another hour! Never even got to the red........

I've bonded with this way more than I ever did with the 50w head version I had

The thing is heavy as fuck though :gethim:
