So I’ll just say, I’ve been looking at the H&K stuff for like... ever! Found this guy on Reverb listed at $699. The tolex is a little beat up. There were no pics of it lit up so asked the guy to take some pics of it powered on. He mentioned the lights weren’t working and made me a stupid good offer in it. Couldn’t say no.

Honestly, I’m damn surprised at how much gain it has on tap. Tested it for about 20 minutes through my Redback loaded V-Boutique 212 and it’ll get ripping with no boost needed.

Going to try to get some clips this weekend as I also got a bunch of new mic’s.

Also, I got a strip of LED’s for the headshell. Seems to be what a lot of folks on the H&K Facebook group do as the bulb replacement for these is almost $300 shipped.

EDIT
Here's an in-room clip. Full demo coming soon.

Happy New Amp Day, mang! I’ve always been curious about the Hughes & Kettner Duotone and the TriAmp multi-channel amp head. I’ve never seen one in any music store or used online in my area though. I’m sure it’s a good alternative to the Marshall JCM 900 amp head though. I understand that the H & K Tommy Thayer signature amp is based on the Duotone.

I know a guy that says the Triaamp is amazing.

I've always wanted to try one of these or the Triamp. I owned a Warp X back in the day that was cool but have never found them at a good price when I was looking. Nice score!!

I used to use duotone combo with an evm12l, great sounding little (but outrageously heavy) thing. Try hitting the front of it with an ep booster on its vintage setting, warms it up a touch.

Awesome dude! Can't wait to hear a clip, not as familiar with that model. I've only played a used Triamp MKii but man was it killer. Would love to take a MKiii for a test run.

Damn y’all. I am really pleased with this amp. I’ll likely take it to my local guy to make sure everything looks ok inside. Not that anything isn’t working right but have no idea if anything needs tidying up in there!

Also I may try out some 6CA7’s in here as I hear they’re great in this amp. Currently has EL34B STR’s.

Adding the LED strip in now since the original bulb is out. At least whoever sent this took the bad bulb out so I don’t have to.

I've heard the H&K are badass. I've almost grabbed one numerous times over the years, but just never committed. I bet it sounds great, but then again Jer I'm sure you could make a budget guitar through a Gorilla sound killer

Here’s some drama too.

Thank GOD for my friend Cole! Apparently, upon pulling out the chassis, it seems not only did someone loose the metal bracket that holds the plexiglass in place and the clips for the lighting kit, they also destroyed and removed the right side side power doober in the chassis, so even if I ordered new bulbs (it requires 2), only one side would work! They also did some half assed high school woodshop bumper to replace that metal bracket.

Clip added to the OP! In-room audio only. Still learning the amp but it fucking slays!

I tried one in GC quite a while ago and it sounded like a slightly hotter 800 and seemed to lack girth. Maybe something was wrong with it?

Yeah something sounds off there. This has WAY more gain than an 800. Tons of bottom end chunk as well.

That’s some pretty tight and ripping metal tone. Sounds to me like what a really, really good Recto should sound like. Rectos won’t get near that tight without a boost, though.
