1977 Marshall Super Bass (1992), modified by Mike Morin owned by Marc Diglio from XYZ?

Not sure on the level of modification, but has an additional (4th) preamp tube & effects loop.

Just purchased and ON ITS WAY HOME.

Congrats! Mike did great work—he's retired now. I've got one of his original heads and preamps.

This looks like one of his lower gain mods since it's only got one additional preamp tube (for the loop). It appears that there isn't a master volume so it's possible he only put in the loop? The only "loop only" mod of his I played had a master installed in an input. It was basically JCM800 gain levels—no push/pull pots like his usual stuff.

Post some clips when you get it!

Amazing !! I love Marc Diglio sound!! We need a long video!!

I don't believe it was used by Marc for the XYZ albums. However, I am going to try to contact him and see if he remembers the amp. My guess is it has a few changes to the circuit but nothing crazy. I am assuming it will sound like a super bass or lead.

Congrats! I’ve always heard good things about his mods.

It could have been! I heard that he used a Marshall head as a power amp for his Morin rack preamp on the Hungry album. If this head only has the loop mod, that might explain why.

Shoot me a PM if you need Mike's email address.

I reached out to Mike Morin to see if he remembers the head, or if Marc might have used it on any XYZ recordings. The head sounds amazing, but it does not have the level of gain from the "Hungry" album. However, it is by far the most "musical" amp that I have ever played, and takes pedals amazingly well with the added loop mod. It does have some "vintage" glass in preamp tubes which was a bonus.

Confirmation from Mike Morin. Yes, the head was used as the power amp with his blue preamp. Cool history.

Now to find a Morin preamp.......

Probably better luck finding Bigfoot. :D

It looks like a version of the 'one-wire-mod'. Easily tweeked for more gain and I wonder if a dummy jack does anything?
