It's actually used amp day, and I got it last week...but I figured i'd put it through it's paces before I came running here exclaiming I loved it. Orange AD30R, one of the ones made in the late 90's. I've been looking for a 2x12 combo like this for sometime now. I couldn't find one I liked; they were either way too expensive or I just didn't like the sound. Played a few other of the newer Oranges, really never clicked with them. The rockerverb was nice, but it seemed like more of a metal amplifier to me...Almost pulled a trigger on a AC30...now I am glad I didn't.

Now, with that said, I LOVE IT! Awesome single channel simplicity. 2 V30s, 30 EL84 watts, just crank it up and let her rip. Takes boost pedals very well...just perfect amount of volume to play with even a heavy handed drummer and it cuts like a knife. I thought I might need to use a 4x12 with it, now it's not even an issue. Very rich harmonically filled tone. I don't get new amps very much, but it's safe to say this one won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

I love those things .... by far my favorite EL84 amp that is available. The only one I liked better is the proto type of the next THD amp. I have been waiting years for that one now.

Big fan of the Orange stuff and that is my favorite.

Always wanted to try one of those out.

Did you every play a Thunderverb when you were trying out the Orange amps?

I very much like the Thunderverb .... great low end. Like many other company's most of the oranges have a similar flavor. Orange just is one that I like a lot. There is something very cool about the fullness of the mid-range and the smooth feel. They can get pretty aggressive without getting harsh. That and they have very good dynamic .... a lot of amps I like the sound but the dynamics do not work for me.

blackba: I did not get to try out the Thunderverb, but it looks like an awesome amp and I can't wait to check it out.
