long story short, I needed a practice amp at home and bought the rm20 and a couple modules off my other guitarist, and love the recto module boosted so much, that I found a used rm100 on reverb to use one of the modules with.
Way late to the game, as I never paid any attention to these back in the day, but just trying it first time in a room for a few minutes I was very Impressed.
anyone still mess with these? I will probably have a dozen dumb questions in the following weeks.....
p.s. why is this thing so damn heavy? after having my evh50 for the last year and a half this thing feels like its made of lead.

In case you did not already know this, go and get the modded modules. Jaded Faith and Salvation Mods are the two heavy hitters in this game. Their products are far better than the stock modules. There are a vast range of modules to choose from so it can get expensive in a hurry. Also check out their RM100 mod (MDA: Move da Air) or whatever they are called. Helps the RM100 even better as far as tone of the amp. Only drawback with these is that the power amp section is the same for all of the modules. This might cause them to sound close but not quite as good as the original. Enjoy!!!!

yeah I don't mind if its a 100% match, and I only use one channel at a time. I just tried it for a few minutes but that treadplate boosted is crazy heavy, and does sound like my old recto. I already am looking at sending off my ultra module to get it made into a mamba module lol

I have had a couple RM50's and a few RM100's. Have had a RM100KH for probably 10 years or so now. Rolled many types of power tubes through it along with lots of modules. Mine has the JF Foglifter installed.

What would you like to know?

yeah ive wanted a cobra for years and for some reason never got one, and have had recto gas(again!) for the last six months, so this scratches an itch, and hopefully I don't just go down the friggin module rabbit hole lol. but this treadplate module boosted with the standout pedal is straight brutal. I have a spare ultra module that came with the practice amp so ill send that off as a donor for the mamba.

downloaded the manual, but didn't see kt88's in it. don't they bias the same as 6550's? also already of thinking about pulling two tubes and running it 50 watt....? seems obscenely loud like my old deliverance. also did anyone make cover plates for the front of the amp if youre not using that space??
haven't had much time on it yet. whats the foglifter mod? is it a dark amp?

Of course you ask about probably the only power tube that I did not try! Can't help you there.

Lot's of good info here http://mtsforum.grailtone.com/ and several people hang out there that can answer the KT88 question.

I prefer EL34's and have a quad of Winged C's in mine. I have also run the 34's and 6CA7's at the same time which seemed to add bottom end. Which I do not need anymore of in my opinion. The bottom end is big and full in my amp. Usually keep the Density below noon and the bass on the modules at 9:00!

The JF Foglifter makes the Presence and Density knobs more usable. Salvation also makes something similar. I have one of the originals but it has been updated with an additional negative feedback circuit and I have not tried that one. I noticed a difference with my amp after I installed it for the better.

A good trick is to run a patch cable in the parallel loop send and return. You can then use the effect level knob on front as a variable additional gain stage.

Keeping the volume on the module over 3:00 helps to open up the tone a bit. Pulling two power tubes will help a little but not much in my experience with the volume.

Other than that, I use several boosts in front with great success, and one gripe I have heard is the series loop level. I guess it doesn't like some pedals but I run mine with a RP1000 in the 4CM and that has been flawless so I never cared.

Congrats on your amp.

I've had several buddies (on forums) own these over the years and they really seemed to dig 'em. Yes, the rabbit hole could be an issue if you get sucked in. Once you find what you like though, hopefully you'll settle in with that.

The RM technology is/was licensed from Egnator right? The TOL amps? Modules are interchangeable IIRC FWIW. I just went to the Egnator subforum but it looked pretty quiet in there.

Have fun

I actually had a Salvation mamba side by side with an actual Cobra. In many ways the Salvation was superior- more clarity, more switches for variety. When I tried to =, I could dial them dead on to each other. I'm a huge Salvo fan

dude that's awesome! good to know.

Look at Terrier module, it was my favourite one. It has mix knob between Deliverance and Pitbull sounds. It has little spongier feel than regular VHT amp but sounds equally amazing.

yeah I'm torn between it and the mamba. but I do love a vht...

I never tried a VHT module
But did you see Fryette has one coming out?! It has graphic eq sliders

the new synergy stuff? I think I have to have my head modded to use them?? I'm probably just gonna use my extra ultra module as a donor and get it sent off this week. I'm so wary of going down this whole new rabbit hole lol, and I'm already drooling over the vht, cobra, and the engl style modules. im about to do my yearly gear purge; so we will see hahahah. might free up some extra bucks to fine tune this head.
im happy just boosting the treadplate module right now. its beat out my evh so far.

I still use my Terrier module. It actually sounds very similar to my SigX. If you run it into the SigX power amp you can dial them in practically identically.

sick. I used a d60, then a d120 for a long time as my rock, and my metal rigs.

The Synergy modules are backwards compatible. It's just that the stock Randall amps won't be able to switch channel on these dual modules (hence the mods), but most of them just have the same channel duplicated with seperate gain/vol controls so you're not losing much. On actual 2-channel ones like VH4 there's a switch on the module PCB for you to manually select the channel.

Anyone order from salvation before? Its been a month and still waiting on an eta on a module. Sent a donor to jaded faith and got an eta in 2 days...

Ive got two rm heads and a practice amp, and one friggin module right now lol.
