I often missed the MC50 I used to have, so went for this when @MetalHeadMike recently listed it in the emporium.

I love it. It has its own thing going on. Huge low end, krangy crunchy articulate midrange, tight attack, thump like a 100 watter. It hangs with the SLO and Ground Zero modded Friedman SS100. Doesn't sound like 50 watts.
It can go as heavy as you want. Modern metal no prob. Love riffing hard n heavy with it, such splendid quality tone. Some of my favorite sounds from it are in the hard rock realm. Clean to mean, and everything in between, it's a fantastic amp to have in the music room.

My wizards 6 l6s were like vht on steroids. A cool ass amp . Miss mine
Yeah! I often missed my old MC50. I made the mistake of listening to old recordings I made of it, just as Mike listed this. Couldn't resist.

It is a bit different than the EL34 model.

Killer Bobby! I don't think I ever listed it, you grabbed it before I did, unless I'm crazy...which absolutely could be the case. Killer killer amp no doubt unique among Wizards. It does hit hard for a 50 and has a unique tone. I've owned a fuck ton of Wizards, but this one is probably one of the more unique.

You're going crazy. It's when you listed a bunch of stuff a little over a month ago:

There you have it then...the jury is out,...I've lost it.

I have never owned a Wizard. I see a lot of reviews that reference ear fatigue and it’s scared me away. I get a little of that from my 2204. But the same frequencies that may cause that also work so well with a band mix, I guess.

I had friends over and we played the Wiz for hrs yesterday. No ear fatigue.
It's like a great 2204, with a good dollop of Mesa Mark and a dash of Hiwatt mixed in. I think the mids are placed a bit lower in the Wiz. It has a certain crunchiness or pop in the mids that is addictive to play.
I freaking love it.
I also loved the way the SLO sounded and felt when I was playing it, while they were playing the Wiz.

Wizards have really effective Presence and Treble controls that can darken or brighten the amps as much as you want. They don't have to be ear fatiguing unless you dial them to be.

But Wizards are loud and stiff enough that if you want to make them ear fatiguing, you absolutely can. If you dial them with a bunch of Presency zing, those frequencies aren't going to sag or mush out at all. They'll definitely hit you full force no matter how loud you dial the amp.

I never got ear fatigue with the 3 different wizards I had (Hell Razor, MTL and MC), but have with some Marshall’s. The most ear fatiguing amps I had/played were the mark iii blue stripe coliseums (even after the ++ mods) and Krank Revolution+, depending how it was dialed in. The Mesa/Boogie Stiletto Trident Stage II I had also got harsh or brittle sounding sometimes

The Wizard sound great! :2thumbsup:

May I ask what your delay settings were in the very first video?

JJs unless someone changed them along the way. JJs work best in all Wizards
Why do JJ's work best in all Wizards? I have ran them in many Twins, great, reliable tubes but the Tung Sol 6L6GC-STR's sounded punchier, louder, and more clear to me when I swapped them into my 69.

Not sure, but when I asked Rick about tube layout recently - he specifically wrote if you change tubes out only use JJs

You can use others, Rick prefers JJs. They can handle high PVs.
