Picked up a Rivera TBR-1SL from e-bay. Saigon Kick used these amps, and I've always dug their tone. I had one a while ago...but it got beat to shit in transit to me. JerryP fixed it and I promptly sold it. Anywho, this amp is amazing to say the least!!! Cleans to die for, a ton of gain on tap and a ton of tweakable options. I've only had the amp for a few minutes, and I've already dialed in an amazing lead tone. Not to mention one of the best clean tones I've ever heard (but who uses cleans anyway....LOL).

Agreed...some are hit and miss. I had a KHII that was setup with KT88's that sounded great...but you had to crank the shit out of it otherwise it was a bit buzzy. I'm not crazy about their K-Tre.

Congrats paige!

I think the TBR series is the best amps Rivera made other then the Fender Super champ. I tried a lot of his amps over the years and hated everyone but the TBR is the balls!!

I think Ed Degenaro will chime in about the TBR's!!

Nice! Loved me some Saigon Kick back in the day. Jason's tone was always great.

Hey Jimbo. I've been around -- busy with work, band and family stuff.

How's the family?

saigon kick great band, I opened a show for them in 91 or 92 on their first album tour, that is a great record

Kickass amps, I've had a TBR-1 (before the SL/M designations), a TBR1-SL, AND the TBR2-SL, all of them were kickass, my favorite was the Original TBR1, that thing just had some mojo to it.

SERIOUSLY versitile, I thought it was as bad if not worse than the Mark IV for tweakability, TONS of options.........

Congrats! I hate that the prices on those went up, I paid no more than $500 for each of the ones I had.

How much did you score it for? I've been seeing them lately going for around $800-$1200.

didnt Skid Row use these for a time as well? I may be wrong?

Was that a BIN? I don't remember that slipping by.

I check Rivera every day on egay.

I'm seriously looking for that exact amp right now.

EDIT: Ahh, I found it. bummer, I missed out. :(

Yup :D

Wow...I have never even heard of that particular amp!

Looks very cool though.

FWIW, I had a River KHR 55 that I loved. I know a lot of people don't liek the high gain tones on Rivera's, but that amp was awesome. Finicky as hell, but when you found the sweet spots, it kicked ass.

Cool score!

So THAT'S the Riveras that Saigon Kick used. I allways knew they used Rivera's, but never knew which ones. I allways like their tone too. Allways hated Riveras though, but never played one of these. Congrats!!

Awesome man. I've always wondered how much you can really change the mids with those extra controls.

I have owned 3 Riveras but always miss out on being able to snag one of those. I have never played an amp that had better cleans than any of the 3 I had. The gain tones were hit and miss with me also. Mainly because they like to breath and if you can't get the master up then you really choke the gain channel. I did have good luck cranking the clean channel master and hitting the front end with a boost though.
