OK, I've heard some clips of these amps & they seem to stay so clear out of the way of lead vocals, which is why I'm interested in these in the first place. Not much gain, but still very aggressive & distorted .....it seems.

Any information about these?

Who is this Dave Friedman guy? who supposedly does Naylor mods on Marshalls? Website, info, anything...prices? Wasn't able to find anything using search engines.

Dave works for Racksystems, i should have his number somewhere. Il get back to you! :)

Yes, Dave does the "Naked Mod" to Marshalls. It's a bit more of an open, more agressive version of the Naylor SD60. You can get it without a clean channel for $600. You can get it with a clean channel for $700. That doesn't include the price of the Marshall you will need to purchase.

Also, Dave can build a Naked Amp from the ground up. He will do it for $3,000 for a 100 watt head and $2500 for a 50 watt head.

How much JMPs go for? Probably around 1500$, ha? So that's like 2200$+shipping and stuff, which makes 50wt head for 2500$ pretty good deal...I guess.

How long is the turnaround time for the mod?

I have no idea how long it will take him to do it. Dave is usually pretty busy, but he told me to ship mine last night. I have been talking to him for over a year about getting one done, but things just kept popping up. I've been wanting one of these amp for 9 years. I'm not too worried about how long it takes, but he usually gets done with them fairly quick.

He can perform the mod on a 1959 as well. He could probably do it to an 800 too.

Billy Howerdel's first amp made by Dave was a 1979 Marshall JMP 2203 that has the Naked Mod w/ the clean channel. An effects loop is standard with this mod. Dave told me last night he just finished making Billy another Naked Amp, so he has 3 of them now.

Post some stuff when you get it man.

How different is JMP mod from Naylor amps? So you think JMP mod is a better amp?

Let me rephrase: what doesn't Naylor in the pic do for you that you find yourself wanting Friedman's modded amp?

The Dual 60 isn't a particularly aggressive or distorted amp, IMO. It's pretty smooth.

I can't comment on the naylor mod as I have never heard it but I can tell you that Dave absolutely Rocks and knows his shit.

The JMP mod is a bit more open and more aggressive than the Naylor amps. It's just a hopped up version of the Superdrive 60 with an EL34 based Marshall power section. I wouldn't say it's a better amplifier than the Naylor. It's just different.

Yeah, he does. I had the Angry Hippie mod last year and it was like an Uberschallized Marshall. He is very talented!
