Subjective, especially if you never play with those tones.

Not my demo but I have very similar setup.
Mine is 2012, 5881 model.
It is little tricky to get clean volume wise with. I had lowered gain on clean channel slightly and corrected levels on effect loop but still hve to correct levels in FX8.
But otherwise, best low volume amp ever and one of the best gain channels, it is fat on single notes like Marks or dumbles, clarity on chords, juicy under fingers.

"Here is an amp that most of you haven't ever played." Proceeds to play typical crap most people from TGP would yank it to and talks the other 13 minutes of the 14 minute video.

Love,

Dale

P.S. - I've owned over a dozen of them and still own one.

Top 10 amp for me. You can play most any style with this amp, boosted or not. Feel as good as anything, and the voicing is unique yet familiar. Like a darker modded 2203/4, with a smooth quality like an SLO...but still sounding raw/open. It's like the low mids are smooth and the rest isn't.

Yeah, it's dark and bright at the same time. It's weird, but it's a wonderful weird. I use mine for hard rock.

I was looking at the clean channel settings on the CAA, and I can tell my kids were turning the dials.

One thing I do remember doing with one of the older ones was using an A/B/Y with it and a Mesa Mark IV. I was able to get the Mark IV very close to the Naylor. The closest thing to it that I've owned was the 101B. Also, the Naked I had was in the same vein, but the Naked is rougher around the edges and geared more toward lower tuning. I thought the Naked sounded like shit in Standard or Dropped D.

I am going to see what the Naylor sounds like running through the power section of that CAA. It's a Classic that was modded to a Classic Plus, so it's pretty similar to a JMP 2203 power section. It sounds like an old school Marshall, but it's rounder.

Anyway, I'm looking at Mark IVs these days. I just haven't pulled the trigger on one yet.

i love these "reviews" where i skip through a 20 minute video in :20 intervals and never actually hear any playing.

edit: i wrote my response before seeing everyone else complaining about the same thing, but yeah fuck that shit

This is so funny because around 1999 I sold my 5150 and went amp shopping with a bud. We stumbled upon a Naylor 1x12 combo at some point and really liked it. At the time I was looking for something just a little more versatile and wound up ordering a Mark IV head, but it was close. Would love to stumble upon that combo again.

This is one of those amps I've had a few times ... and wish I'd held on to. The OD channel is fantastic.

I do wish the clean channel on the Duel had evolved to be a little more useful- I found it too bland to use for anything. Imo, being able to switch the Hi/Lo inputs would have been more practical.

If I ever do Naylor again, I'd opt for Superdrive over Duel, and just use low input when I want cleans. It would be cool if the inputs were foot switchable, but there would be a significant volume difference.

The 2 SD60s I had, cleaned up better than any amp I've ever played when it comes to getting a good clean from a 1 ch amp with 2204+ levels of gain. Even better than a VHT D60 which is also very good in that dept.
