So I've got a beautiful guitar that I would LOVE to keep, but I can't do anything with the single coil in the bridge. Anyone know of a killer single-coil sized humbucker that I can pop in to satiate my chugging needs. The single coil is just way too twangy, I need something that will allow me to chug metal and scream solos!

I'm using a hot rails in the bridge of my strat on this mark v video:

Just jump to about 3:02 to hear chunk

+1 on the hot rails. I have one in my Am. Std. Strat. It sounds really good.

Another Hot Rails vote...it's pretty brutal compared to the other options and still very tight

Right on thanks folks, that' all I needed, got some ordered, should be here tomorrow!!!

I have had a SD hot rails in my MIM strat for years, great pickup. I made it so I could run it split, but its very noisy that way, so its now really worth doing.

Hope you like it...

Run it in paralell. That's what I do with my Tele Hot Rails. I like the sound better than true single and there is no noise.

GFS Li'l Killer is a solid option too. I would go for the 10.6k version instead of the 16k because it has better clarity, but I have both and they're nice.

Little screamin demon is really good.
I always loved the Joe Barden blade single that Ty Tabor used in his Zion guitars.

Another vote for the hotrails. I have one in my strat and it sounds great, the guitar will still sound like a strat but its a much more useable pickup and sounds really full for leads. Good strong output with less highs and more mids.

Good idea, should be very easy to change the push pull switch to be a series/parallel switch. I am so used to running humbuckers in series and split coil, that I forget about running both coils in parallel....

Yep. I have the bridge pickup on my LP hooked to a push/pull on the tone control set to parallel and it just cleans the bridge up nicely and gives it almost a tele twang to it. No hum.

Just got the push-pull pot rewired, so I can run the hot rails in series or parallel. Really digging the parallel mode, its brighter, has more treble, but still full sounding. I also like the lack of buzzing. I much prefer the parallel setting to splitting. Thanks again for the idea.
