I just got that BOSS Katana combo and thinking about getting a second to do a stereo setup at gigs and for home with my BOSS SD-3000, Keeley Halo, etc. Both sound glorious in stereo.

I wanted to get advice on getting a second combo or if I should get the head? There are advantages and disadvantages to both:

Two combos:
- Identical and easy setup and speaker included
- Disadvantages is carrying a second combo

Head and Combo:
- Easy to haul as a backup to many setups, even if I did my tube amp and 1x12
- For stereo would mean hauling combo, 1x12, and head.

Just curious what folks would do if they were getting another amp. Thanks! Btw, not pulling the trigger on another until I hear it with my band and still keeping my tube amps, Orange, etc

Not to completely derail, but have you ever played a vypyr pro? I see you like the katana and i have been flirting with grabbing one of these combos for gigging to not have to drag my rig.

Get ready for a headache wiring it up. Hopefully you don’t have any ground issues. But damn it’s glorious. I would recommend a good aby with a polarity switch. Just to simplify things.

I played a vypyr back in the day but has been ages. I'm not sure if I'm familiar with the pro.

Thanks man! That is where the BOSS EVH SDE-3000 shines. Great pedal for a stereo rig!

Shit you a g2g then. I forgot you had that. Might want to get a hum eliminator if you have any bad humming…. I ordered a cheap pyle unit from Amazon for $12 and it worked great.

I'm addicted to stereo, simple to setup too.

I played multiple heads for a few years. It’s tuff. When changing channels, boosting etc will create some volume and tone changes. Not bad, just get used to it. Another thought; get a powerstation PS100 and a 1x12 cab; then you have the same preamp pushing both power amps. And use the channel change on the PS100 as the boost. Keeps things quite even. It’s not a right way or wrong way; it’s just another way.
