So... I've tried pretty much everything I can (currently) and I'm still not happy with BOTH the audio AND video on any of my clips. I stared with a Creative VADO which does 720p HD video, but the sound is lacking. Then I got a Memorex HD recorder which also does 720p HD but still has poor audio. So I bought a ZOOM H3, which has pretty good audio, but the video is weak (which I'm fundamentally OK with). The ZOOM just clips A LOT--hard to get levels set--if I'm playing it's fine, but then you can't hear me talking. When it adjusts to my talking, as soon as I start playing it clips.
I've tried setting up a room condenser mic into REAPER at the level of the two combo amps (floor) I'm recording, and again, the amps sound great, but my voice is barely audible.
Any thoughts?
I'm thinking of making one last pass with the MXL990 at 5' instead of floor level, and hoping that it will make my voice louder, the amps not clip so much and then I can do HD video and combine the REAPER audio with the HD video in SONAR Producer 8.5.
Sound like a plan, or have I made an error in setup?
Let me know--I'm floundering here.
Cheers,
