Hey guys as you know I have two rear loaded cabs and 1 front loaded. The rear loaded cabs have V'30's and I lvoe em. I have the herbet using one or two some times. I always had the VH4S running 1 front and 1 rear loaded cab and never really heard the difference too much of the front loaded (black one). So as a goof i tired the front loaded with my herbert and the sound was not up my ally. maybe because I had all my settings tweaked for the front loaded cab but in all honesty it sounded like dog poo poo. So I open her up and realize it has eminence speakers :aww: I never heard much of a difference because with the loud volume I play at and it spread apart with the VH4S it all sounded great together.

So anyhoo. If you where in my shoes....are those shitty speakers?? , or is it just my Herbert is set up properly and tweaked for my rear loaded cabs as the "Somewhat "honky" when played alone, but cutting edge when heard in a band mix. I plan down the road to replace the speaker" so it says about the front loaded. I have not used the front loaded with my no complete band (YES!!!!!! I fianally have a full band!!! myspace.com/centrifuse for clips of my demo's with vox and new pix :) )

If I plan to change the speakers. For that particular cab, what would you recommend? v'30's like in my rearloaded or some others? if so can you link me to a good place to get some in the USA online? Thanks guys!!

I use a mix of two Vintage 30 and two G12K100 in my frontloaded cab. Absolutely huge and very balanced sound. I can only recommend the combination of both.

I haven't heard the Eminence speakers myself, so I can't comment on those.

I had the same reaction as you did when I ran my Herbert thru the my Diezel front loaded 4x12.
I can't think of a speaker I disliked more than the Eminence speakers, and I have played thru to many cabinets in my life.
I replaced the Eminence speakers with two Celestion V30s and two Celestion G12T-75. The exact same x pattern as my favorite Bogner Uberschall 4x12 cab! If you have the funds, you would really love using two EVM-12L instead of the Celestion G12T-75. Either way, I think it would be a plus for you.

You should consider trying a G12K100. It's basically a G12T-75 without all the bad habits ;) A very balanced and extremely tight speaker. It tends to sound a bit too neutral and cold alone but blends very well with the Vintage 30. I was never very convinced of mixed speaker settings until I heard the combination of the G12K100 and Vintage 30.

Thanks guys I think I am gonna give em a try down the road. Right now I have wedding things to plan. :) So when I get the 2 and 2 have them installed diagonally? Not like 2 V30's on top and the other two on the bottom? Thanks again!

2 v30s & 2 EVM12Ls :D

Rips for the Uberschall & the Herbert.

I put them left and right to be able to use only one type of speaker if needed by using one side in stereo configuration.

I occasionally use a frontloaded Lopoline cab with 2 V30s and 2 GT75s. It sounds really good with the Herbert. Tight, focused, really good low end too. Nothing like you describe with the eminence speakers.

Ok now I am totally weirded out

Ok so I put my Herbert in to the shop to get retubed and biased with SED EL34's right? So I plugged my VH4S into both the front and rear loaded cabs. then I turned each master volume down to hear each cab alone.........and the frontloaded with the eminence speakers sound great!!  I am like WTF??? I think also when some one mentioned my settings on the Herbert are really weird, it is because I am still exploring the right settings on it to run serial into the Herbert and have all the modelers preamps etc OFF and the right send/return setting. So maybe that is why it sounded like poo poo when I switched cabs. very confused right now LOL

Well different amps and different interaction with the cab. I tried a frontloaded V30, G12K100, mixed and rearloaded V30 with my VH4. I didn't like the rearloaded with the VH4 at all but with the Herbert it was great.
It took some time but I finally came to the conclusion that the cab is as important as the amp and both should match to get the best sound. Some cabs might be great with some amps but will sound like ass when you use them with another amp.
You shouldn't look for a cab for both VH4 and Herby. You'll find none that will sound great with both, BUT you will find one that sound awesome with the Herbert and another one that sounds awesome with the VH4.

You lost me! I thought we were talking about running your 180 watt Herbert thru the front "Eminence" loaded 4x12 cab? Your stereo VH4S is pushing 60 watts tops, a side, if I understand right. That would, without a doubt produce a different outcome. My ideal sound scenario was a Herbert thru Diezel 4x12 front loaded with 2-8 ohm V30 plus 2-8 ohm G12T 75 spks. That is what I have, and at this time using now.

Yeah I jammed on it some more. I am gonna keep the speakers. They sound great with the VH4S (with EL34 Ruby BSTR's) for some reason and use the Rearloaded ones for the Herbert and the VH4S :)

Geeze.....I actually like the Eminence speakers in my 2x12FL.
However, that being said.....it's not beyond a scope that I wouldn't mind trying a V-30 (which I don't like all that much) in combination with a G12K100 in my 2x12. I wonder what that would sound like......
