Alright, so far I'm covered in these styles regarding guitars/pickups/tone:

Clean (Single Coils and P90s)
Blues ( " " " " " " )
Classic rock ( " " " " " " " )

Now...here comes the other part. I have a Fender Strat with EMGs (two single Coils and an 85 hb) which I dig..... but I honestly would like to try a Passive humbucker. Is there a way to keep both EMG single coils and replace the 85 HB ??

QUESTION #2:

Which high output passive humbucker would you recommend me? This pickup will be for hard rock/metal.....and the metal I like is, Metallica, Iced Earth, Megadeth, Sevendust...... So I want a "tight" passive pickup. WHICH ONE?

thanks guys

You can keep actives and passives together, but you need to rewire and change the poti for the new passive pu afaik.

SD Custom 5 for a passive bridge pu. :)

Looks like EMG81 is what you need. Passive? as far as I know Bare Knuckles Nailbombs is what would replace EMGs
SH6 is another peace of shit worth to try

So far my favorite bridge pickup with Herbert is Gibson 498, but it doesn't sound anything like the bands you've mentioned.

For a passive high output pickup with some clarity I would recommend the Anderson H3+ or HN3.

plus 1 on that anderson pickup suggestion!

I agree Anderson pickups are very good. I'm using an H2 in the bridge of one of my guitars. I tried an H3 ( which is Hotter) but found I lost too much tone. Comes down to personal taste, but the Andersons are worth a look at.

i prefer the h3 in the bridge and h1 in the neck, i didnt hear the loss of tone only a bit smoother mid range, just my ears.

Both H2 and H3 are great no doubt. The H2 is more open sounding while the H3 is more compressed. The H2 is much better for clener tones. Depends on the guitar, style etc. I'm going for a cleaner/airy sound. Besides I own a EBMM EVH also which has pretty hot pickups, and covers the high output gain.

Another good suggestion (a few people know them) are van zandt pickups.
Those are PAF like (in case you don't like the ceramic high output designs) but slightly hotter with more mids and treble and clean up very well when you roll the volume down.

I'm strongly suggesting the 'TruBucker Coil Tap'

Seymour Duncan Custom 5 !!!!

Me also.
Very tight, and also very rich in tone. It's my favourite pickup by far, specially for Iced earth stuff.
With the Custom 5, if you dail in channel 3 (on VH4) with very little gain (to the point that you think it needs a bit more gain)
you still retain a rich and tight palmmute with lots of tone and dynamics. The balance is beatiful, its sparkly but with a fat body.
The output is very high ala EMG's.

My 2 cents.
