I have this project guitar that is almost done and i'm having some issues installing these Seymour Duncans; JB Trembucker, Hot Rails middle, Hot Rails neck.

I have the 3 Seymour Duncan pickups, Hot Rails (HR Neck- N), Hot Rails (HR Middle - M), and JB (Bridge -B).
For each pickup i have the red and white wires wrapped up and soldered together.
I have the black wire going to the respective toggle switch terminal.
And finally, i have the green and bare wires going to the volume pot.

I have the ground wire soldered to the tremolo claw and coming in and being soldered to the volume pot.
This is exactly how i have it wired right now.

I just don't know what's going on. When i plug it into my amp to check for the pop when i tap the pickups here is what happens, also it's a 5-way switch:

1. no sound - typically where Full bridge should be
2. no sound- typically bridge/middle combo
3. faint middle pick up
4. some bridge, middle and neck
5. some bridge and neck

i've never had so many issues with installing pickups and this is driving me nuts.

i'm also using the wire/pot/jack from this kit from Stewart MacDonald

on this image duncan gives you, they dont have the black wires going to toggle. they have the black wires from the neck and middle single's going to ground and the WHITE wires going to the 5-way toggle

after you fix that and ground the black, your left with a red wire. see if you can tape it up itself, as the JB is done.

as for the green and bare wires going to ground from the neck and middle that sounds right.

check that then give us an update

wow. how did i mess that up. i feel like such an idiot right now

thanks for pointing that out man!

i think i got confused because i looked at this wiring diagram for the Hot Rails and they have the red and whites getting taped up, the green and bare going to the pot, and the black going to the toggle switch:

https://www.seymourduncan.com/images/pro ... 15-100.pdf

would the fact that i'm not using any tone pots change what wire i use for the toggle? sorry if all this sounds quite n00bish. i just don't have much experience with passive pickup installations.

right on the money. if you dont have a tone pot everything goes to hell hahahaha.

and honestly i know its not noobish.

it would be noobish if you were asking someone to install the pickups you just bought

and besides the fact, nothing wrong with asking questions around here. live and learn is my motto

well, now i really have no idea what's going on.

i just exactly what you said. i kept the JB exactly the same.

The middle pickup i put the white wire to the toggle switch, the red wire is taped up, and i have the green, ground and black going to the volume pot.

The neck pickup i also have the white to toggle switch, red taped up, and black/green/ground all going to the volume pot.

when i plugged into my amp to check for the pop i got nothing. then with the cable in the output jack, i tried wiggling the cable around and at the bridge position on the toggle switch it was buzzing slightly, but it popped...for all 3 pickups in that position and that position only.

i'm stumped.

try taping the green and red wires together, bare to ground.

white going to toggle.

it doesnt make any sense... they are SD pups and the wiring diagram is from their site

imho ive never had nowhere near this much trouble as well.

but yeah try the green and red tied together, white to the 5 way black to ground and leave the JB the way you got it

Just install the middle PU like the neck and bridge

Damn, I didn`t notice the pushpull.. Ignore the push/pull and tape those wires together instead. (The red and white)
