OK so I'll be making a demo of a new tube rack mount preamp soon....I want to use my BE-100 as the host amp but it does not have MIDI which is required to properly switch the rack pre with the amp...

I was looking at various solutions online and am overwhelmed....Just want something simple...Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks,
Mattfig

I have one of those. It works great. I use an Art X-11 for switching. They're pretty cheap on E-bay.
A Rolls Midi Buddy would also work. Is the rack preamp midi?

Thanks! Yes, the rack preamp is MIDI...

Another question. What kind of footswitch jack on the amp? I had to get a custom cable for my Peavey amps.
If the jack on your amp is 1/4" your golden. Why do you want to switch channels on the amp, BTW?

1/4 inch! Woo hoo! The Rack pre simply adds two more preamps to the amp without taking away any regular amp channels...That's part of its beauty....

Are you running the preamp into the loop return or out front? I just don't know how your going to bypass the preamp of the amp or the rack preamp when you need to.

I'm going to spend your money and say an FX8 would be awesome
Or maybe that newer Boss ms3? That could integrate a few pedal loops too

Thanks Ray but I'm looking to fall onto the cheaper side of all this if I can.....Have rackFX

Voodoo lab control switcher should do the trick to enable midi switching with the TRS footswitch jack of a BE.

Alright! Now we're getting somewhere...Thanks so much guys! .What about the floor controller? I'm seeking a cheap and easy one...No FX necessary....

How many presets do you want? Voodoo lab commander is simple as it gets.

If your just using a power amp and your preamps are midi capable, you don't need a Voodoo Lab Control Switcher. Just a midi foot pedal to change presets.

I'm using the BE-100 to host the additional preamps....

I like the Voodoo Lab Commander pedal a lot....Great suggestion....I would still need to use a Switcher though correct?

Yes, commander is not a midi controller on its own. Commander will act as a footswitch to control other midi devices, besides voodoo lab stuff, but you still need either a control switcher or a pedal switcher to provide power to the commander and send commands to the external midi devices.

I would recommend a control switcher and a commander. This would give you 10 presets and allow you to change channels on the BE if you ever need to as well as your midi pre-amps.

Or if you dont want to change channels on the BE and are only concerned with your pre amps you could try a midi moose either the full size or the mini. There is a similar midi controller by rocktron as well but I dont remember the name.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but -

you have inputs going into inputs, which wouldn't work.

This would work, and it's top of the line: https://reverb.com/item/392007-axess-el ... s-switcher

That one is sold, but they aren't hard to find.

Guitar to amp input. amp loop send to input loop 1. preamp loop 2. 2nd pre amp loop 3. You could even put the FX unit in loop 4 if you wanted to bypass it. Or use loop 4 to switch amp channels. GRX9 out to amp loop return, or to FX Unit - which would then go to Amp loop return..

That SM2 ^ is meant to work in a 4cm to choose either amp or SM2 as the preamp tones

It seems the Boss ms3 still might the best choice even if you don't use any of the fx (but I bet some of those fx are way cool)
It has the midi out and a CTL out. I may get one just because my fx8 is kind of large and not always a great choice for a quick jam

Getting a Gizmo ($159) and then a midi controller may actually cost more depending on your midi controller choice. The Behringer FCB controller is a cheap/good deal but a bit large, especially, if you don't use those built in expression pedals.
