Just a couple of presets I created, which I put head to head. Reason was I have been a bit sceptical that the in-built models on the Quad Cortex weren’t as good as the plugins that they sell.

But I think this demo serves to show that you can get great tones out of the in-built models and don’t have to spend money on the plugins.

The plugin is better IMO and always has been. From day one I prefered the plugin version. With that said, I believe the stock amp is based on the old SLO100 and the plugin is based on the latest SLO100 release.

No, you're confused, the Quad cortex has TWO SLO models: an original SLO100 model and has recently had the plugin version ported as a second, new model, as well that is intended to be identical to the plugin. The vid is comparing all three (Plugin, QC old SLO model, QC new SLO model).

TBH, I don't think the SLO agrees with the OPs style of music; so it's kind of a meaningless comparison. Has way too much gain dialed in and is tuned way too low. It's not really much of a test of what that amp is capable of.

Thanks for the feedback. It's a B tuning, perhaps I should have picked one of my guitars closer to a standard tuning.

I'm of the impression that the plugin is better too, but mainly because it has a lot more lower mids than the stock model, which doesn't have so much low end.

There's not 2 models on the QC. The "new" model you're referring to is the PCOM plugin of the new SLO100 (if you own that plugin).

Yes, there are ... It has the original model and a new model that you can only instantiate if you own the SLO100 X plugin. The new model is designated on the grid with designator showing that it is the SLO plugin version and it is a different device. The other is the original model prior to the CorOS3.1 update where the SLO plugin support was deployed. They're two different models.

I’m saying there’s the plugin amp and the original QC model. The way that was written was that there is 3 total models.
