I just got a 2008 vh4. Plugged it in and... I'm blown away. It's such a versatile beast. Totally different amp than the Einey. I'll have to say I prefer Einey's crunch a bit more, but channel 3 is what everyone says it is... high gain heaven. So inspiring to play through I've already written a few new riffs. If anyone's interested I'll write up my findings in vh4 vs einey when I get used to the V. (I'm sure it's been done before though.)
I do have a question for you other vh4 owners out there... on channel 2 (mainly) Do you notice a high frequency sizzle that if you hold a chord out after a second or 2 it just fizzles out and disappears in a weird way? I'm just nit-picking here, but I can't seem to make it go away no matter what I do. (less presence/treble different guitars changed every pre-amp tube...) Just curious if that's a characteristic of the amp or mine's not 100% since it's used.
Still... completely blown away. Peter, you are definitely among the best in your field past or present. I wish I could afford to buy these things brand new directly to better support your business.
PS. I have a couple of digits in the serial number that look like "/\" (an A without a bar). I'm not quite sure what the digits are supposed to be? I'll post pics if someone can help me figure it out. Thanks guys.
