I already have a Rebel 20 and love it but wanted to step up to the 30 to take advantage of a second channel and reverb. I couldn't seem to find one anywhere so I called Egnater to find out if they had discontinued the amp or what the deal was. I was told that that amp is being reworked and they are adding a "hot" switch like on the tweaker series as well as modifying some of the circuitry. I also own a tweaker 40 which I love but I also love the tones of the rebel, to me they are completely different sounding amps though. I think if the hot switch is implemented on the Rebel line and it produces some of the heavier/darker tones of the tweaker as well as staying true to the original rebel tones, it just might be about the most versatile amp on the market with just about any tone imaginable. I do hope they make the hot switch foot-switchable... could be the perfect amp.

I believe the timeline for release is late summer, early fall.

Has anyone else heard anything regarding this change to the Rebel 30? I looked for other posts but didn't see anything so I apologize if this has already been discussed.

Bruce?

I haven't heard anything about this, but I would definitely wait until this is done before buying a Rebel 30. I went through 3 or 4 of those and they were all problematic in one way or another.

I'm glad I bought the Rebel 20. It's been a great amp. For reverb, I use a pedal if I need it and for a second channel I built a BYOC Amp Switcher and use my 5e3 clone. Absolutely beautiful tones available with this setup.

Hi.
New to the forum.

I recently purchased the Rebel 30. Excellent tones and sounds from this thing.
Wonderful clean, gritty, all the way to some rock crunch.
The best thing about it is the amazing clarity when strumming a chord even with channel 2 gain at full bore.
I can still hear all the notes in the chord. A lot of amps can't do this or at least not very well especially once the gain it turned up.

As we Rebel owners already know, channel 2 gain is not really that "hot" or saturated.
I really want and need more gain. I'm looking at the Fulltone OCD pedal or the Boss Metal Core, not Metal Zone.
What I have right now is a Digitech RP255, which sounds very nice and works great in clean channel 1, but doesn't work well at all in channel 2 even if the gain is turned way down to say the 9 O'clock position.

I wrote to Egnater about the "NEW" Rebel and was told that indeed there will be a new "Mark II" Rebel amp that will have more gain and reworked circuits.
It's supposed to hit the US market late July or August.
GREAT!
If the new Rebel 30 sounds as good as this one for clean and gritty blues, but ALSO does more saturation and higher gain, then the Rebel 30 will be PERFECT.
Lucky I've got 60 days to return this one to GC.

BTW, I love the digital reverb in this Rebel and was suprised at how much I like it. It's very Fender like, and I happen to like Fender real spring reverbs.

I just swapped the cl80 for a greenback in my Egnater 1x12 and the Rebel 20 smokes through it but having that extra saturation in the Rebel 30 mkII would really give it that brown sound. Just for kicks, I plugged my Axe-Fx Ultra through the FX loop in the Rebel 20 with the amp sims off and tried the different types of pre-amps and when I used the Brown amp sim, WHOA! Early VH tone! Used the Marsha BE and that kick a** as well. Sounded very much like Freidman's modded Rebel 20.

Have to checkout the MKII when it comes out.

Hey C1-ocaster... careful GC is a 30 day return policy, not 60.

If this re-design is true...anyone know...Bruce are you reading this...
if there will be a mod for the current Rebel 30, (of course I know I will have to pay to have it done)
to add that extra gain/heavier sound?
Will this be foot-switchable?
