Overall I dig the heavier vibe and it's cool to hear Portnoy again , although I liked Mike Mangini but feel that having Portnoy back gives the band a much needed groove that was missing .

DT is just a front to sell EBMM guitars & Gibson amps.

I dig it. Had just about everything from some Proginess to simple riffs and grooves and a cool solo.

They make great music .
Well they certainly have but to be honest heard one JP riff you heard em all kinda like Vai & Yngwie, note overload.
After my first G3 never wanted another. However "Glasgow Kiss" is a really cool song.
He does have really good tone like always. Im over the Mesa thing tho.

Not a bad song, par for the course for Dream Theater. I dig the solo, but most of the rhythm stuff just doesn't do anything for me. I haven't heard a good catchy DT song in a while. James LaBrie's vocals still don't fit what DT has been doing the last 20 years. He'd fit more in a power metal band. Also, I don't like his face.

However, it is cool to have Portnoy back for sure!

I like the groove. The song sounds cool production-wise, too.

Something else... LaBrie has never really been my style but he's minimally obnoxious and distracting here, lol.

Also, I forgot to mention that no other band in history has used as many sampled spoken lines from some movie or tv show or whatever as Dream Theater, and it's annoying. Also, I still don't like LaBrie's face.

I was really determined to finally make it through a full dream theater song after all these years, made it to 4:07 before I couldn’t take it any more. Awful
Unfortunately I have to agree. While I did make it through the song, it was mainly through perseverance. The highlight was the crunchy intro riff right before the lyrics come in. Otherwise pretty god damn cheesy if you ask me, and I'm a (ex) DT fan. I wouldn't say awful but totally forgettable on so many levels. It kinda makes me sad really...

The production is killer. The song was groovin... but then the vocals kicked in. I don't think the song is note overload at all. It's not even a fast song. It's just the vocals kill the vibe of the song for me.

But the tones are fantastic. I'll give them that. The drums sound killer.

Well for me Images and Words will always be my favorite album that they put out as it's damn near perfect start to finish , but I will keep checking out anything they put out as there's good stuff here and there , but it seems hard for them to capture the early glory days for sure. I also preferred Kevin Moore and Derek Sheridan on the keys as they were less proggy than Jordan Rudess and more rock oriented which I think really helped with those earlier Dream Theater albums.

I have always felt that James Labrie was the weak link in the band and haven't changed my mind all these years later.

Seems they have become more and more proggy over the years for sure and really wish they would make another Train of Thought heavy type of album from start to finish.

If anyone in this band had any idea about constructing songs for maximum impact it would be 4:43 and a whole lot cooler than it is

That said, cool guitar tones and LaBrie is minimally nasal and obnoxious
