This is probably an 81 or 82 Robin RH-2. Made by Tokai, it's probably about as early a superstrat type as you find. Thin neck, like a Carvin or Wizard 2, dual Schaller humbuckers, trem, body carves. You can see how this model would have inspired Charvel, Kramer, and others to head toward the hot rod strat style. It led to the HM series Robin that added a floyd, and eventually the Medley and Tedley.

This thing is filthy, needs strings, and possibly a refret. It's playable but there ain't much left. All I did was tune it and rock for a couple hours. Light, middy, good clarity, I may still try a different pickup but first I need to put some strings on. You can see where someone loved the upper register!

This guitar isn't super collectible, but I'm concerned about a refret. For similar money I could probably just get a Warmoth neck and bolt it on and leave the original neck original. Opinions?

I would leave it as it is .... :)
+1.....
I have had about 4 Robin guitars in the past. they all played great.
Love yours.

I'm going to clean the scunge off and restring. I'm a huge fan of Robin guitars, Japan, US they're all really good. And now that they're not making any more it's almost like a grail to me.

I had one custom shop robin that had Pinhead from Hellraiser on it.....huge graphic.
One of a kind.....that like all my other stuff....sold...

really dig that one you got.

They made a bunch of odd single year models. I think a guy could look for years and not see them all. Add in the custom work they did and the breadth is awesome for such a small outfit of limited means.

Fucking love Hellraiser. Bet that thing was epic.

WOOO!!!!!! Those are the best guitars to get! The tone enhancing scratches and dings are just stunning! That guitar has a soul. EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would get the neck cleaned up and leave it the way it is.

Hey did you get your chair at Home Depot? I have the same one.

Used to be a Slaughter fan in my younger years , and Tim Kelly always used Robin guitars. Ive never seen one in person though

Get it refretted with SS. Very sweet axe!
That's what I'm leaning toward. Some stainless 6100s and no other changes.

Initially I thought these were Schaller pickups. Turns out they are Gotohs, and after tweaking height they are killer. The neck never gets mushy, there's still some crunch. The bridge pickup is middy with great clarity, really up front sounding. I don't know how much is guitar and wood or just pickup, but it's a great match. Cuts well.

Congrats

Leave the neck alone unless some of the frets are jacked up.
Update the pickups and a paint job, not pinhead, and that will make the sucker standout.
