I'm a total noob when it comes to cabs and head (I've always been a combo man till now)

How should I make the connections? (8omh, 4ohm) ?? how is this done?

I have an Einstein coming in and a Framus 2x12

What's the impedance of the cab? if it's 8 ohms, run the speaker wire from the 8 ohm out of your Einstein to the cab.

Ditto if it's 16 ohms, or 4 ohms.

Just make sure you use a speaker cable.

Ok, a speaker cable right? not a normal guitar cable?

YES, there is a difference, so please be sure to use only a speaker cable.

hi there,

i have a bassman 100 head (4 ohms) and will be getting a v.t bassman cab (1 x15") soon, i noticed the cab label has speaker impedance (8 ohms) and total impedance (4 ohms), what's the difference?

would it be ok if i run the cab on the bassman head?

Your speakers are 8 ohm ea. Looks like you have two speakers in the cab which is wired for a total cab load of 4ohms. Your amp needs to be set to 4 ohms.

The cab was cut down from a 2 x 15" to a 1 x 15", so it has only one 15" speaker inside.

Anyway, as long as I set it to 4 ohms, things should work fine, right?

Thanks for the advise.

In that case it looks like your speaker is 8 ohm, so you need to set your amp output to 8 ohm.

yes. connect it to 8 ohm output !

:)

and what about a 2x12", Celestion, 140W, 16Ohm cab?

do i have to plug it on the 16 ohm output of the head, right?

Yes. You match the output of the amp to the input of the cab.

Amp -> cab:
4 -> 4
8 -> 8
16 -> 16

Safe mismatch:
4 -> 8
8 -> 16

That's it. Nothing else.

so i can match my bassman 100 head (4 ohms) with the v.t bassman cab 1 x 15" (8 ohms), right?

Depends on the nominal output I would guess.

what's nominal output? can you describe further?

i got my bassman v.t cab couple of days ago, played it with the bassman 100 head, sounds good.

but when i plugged the head to my ampeg v4 cab (8 Ohms) 4 x 12", there are noise coming out from the speakers.

my question is: can i rewire my bassman head (4 ohms) to 8 ohms?
