Hello,

I'm new to Diezel.

Just bought a new Herbert and am amazed at the clarity and love the tone.

I run it thru a trad Mesa 4x12 cab w/V30's and well, the cab just can't handle the lows/mids. It flubs out at pretty low volume - very disappointing!

From reading the posts here, it looks like I need a Front-Loaded Diezel 4x12 with G12K100 or V30's.

Questions:

a) Do I get the V30's or G12K100's for even pure Herbert tone???
b) Where to buy from? I found a handul of place online, but is there a "right" person/place to go to?

Thanks in advance to the experts here....

i run a mesa to but i don't but i probably have mine eq'd a little different for speakers it depends what you are playing and your tastes. you are actually close to the canadian distributor diffusion audio andy cherna is the main guy there and he is quebec

Yeah--I'm finding that speakers that have a little more clarity suit the Herbert better. G12T-75's, K100's, etc.

Congrats and welcome to the Diezel family!!!

Congrats on a great amp!

I run a Diezel 2x12 front load cab with my Herbie and what I did was run a V30 on the left and a G12K-100 on the right. Kinds of makes it a best of both worlds scenario.

No flubbing at any volume and sounds great!
I put in a couple of the Weber beam blockers and they really make a big difference for me at least when playing live.

im the odd man out here, but my best results to date is the new german made cabs loaded with g12-65 speakers. makes for a nice dark tone, then i add top end with the amp. i find it easier to do this then try to tame treble frequencies before they get to a bright speaker.

with that said i am happier now with my rig than i have ever been!!

Your Mesa cab should be able to handle a Herbert just fine, that is weird.

Regardless, you want a newer German made front loaded cab. I have seen it mentioned that the Herbert was voiced with the V30 in mind, so that is the speaker that I recommend.

I had all G12K100's in mine and the sound is very smooth, darker, and clear, but I tried an X pattern with 2 V30's added and really prefer that combo. A bit more bite and character to the overall sound. Plus, I had some trouble with the K100's flubbing out a little, to me V30's appear to be a better quality speaker.

Thanks all!!!

I appreciate the advice and nice fruit basket sent to me!!!

+1, I have a Mesa Recto Oversized cab and it handles any lows I throw at it...and the Herbert can get stupid high levels of bass with the Deep control! You possibly have a blown speaker, or a damaged one...had an Ampeg fridge with the same symptoms once, just needed one speaker reconed to fix it.
