I traded some gear+cash for an Einstein, just to give it a try. I never have played one before.
I thought it´s a good piece of gear for selling...
After playing it for 6 hours it was like a drug and makes me think of it like a new girlfriend every day.
I´m selling my other amp, which I used to love very much and gear to keep the Einstein.

For those who aren´t sure if the Einstein can do metal...
If you put a BBE-max in the loop, this amp is really, really brutal.
I guess the most of you don´t like BBEs, but for a brutal metal/core tone it is really great.

I just love it !!!

Hi Chris !

Gern.

+100 on the BBE Maximizer in the loop!

Damn you! Now I'v got Sonic max gas again ARGHHHHHHH!

Curses from my pockets. Must resist.

But hey !
I used to have both BBE controls at noon with my Randall.
You won´t need that with Einstein. Just use it softly and it will sound good without killing the sound.

I have to say I'm currently in 2 minds as to the next step with the Einstein's effects setup. Im digging the cleans, texas and lead, god I dig the lead, but im not having as much joy with getting my rhythm sound nailed for the heavier moments.

Now Im getting way easily enough gain thats not the issue but I think a tweak in the low mid EQ post preamp is needed to make me really happy so I was thinking about a 10 band EQ of some sort, mxr likley or perhaps one of the BBE eq's but then im concious that switching it in and out live is going to be hassle. The other option is the sonic max which as reported beefs Einy up to full on meltdown metal territory and make is a tad more present in the mix.

Decisions decisions, or should I just give in to Gas and buy both! Mwuuhahaha! :gethim:

haha
OK. I have to say, that I´m from the 5150, powerball, rectifier, randall side of the cake. :gethim:

I think the best way is to give it a -SOFT- touch with the BBE and do the "finetuning" with the knobs on the Einy.
There is no need for an Eq.
I´ve never played a Herbert, which I really would like to, but I guess this will give you more Herbert-feel from what I´ve heard about the mid-cut-direct-metal feel the Herbert has...

But these are just my few thoughts...
And I really love, how my new amp sounds !!!

I thought the same thing when I got my Einey. The EXACT same thing. Now I get a god-like heavy rhythm sound out of my einey. What did I do? I changed cabs. I got an old front loaded v30 cab (~10 years old) on the super cheap and then I switched guitars. Now I'm using an aria pe-90.. which is essentially a lp copy with p-90 pickups. I noticed the lower output pickups seem to wake the einey up. I can show you settings if you wish.. I have a sound clip on a thread called Einstein soundcheck = super mega liquid turbo crunch love or something like that.

Good luck!

If you go with an EQ get a parametric... Graphics just don't cut it when you're trying to fine tune. I can't comment on the bbe, never tried one.

On cabs I can say, that I used to play an Engl XXL cab and changed to a carvin legacy cab both with V30s.
The carvin sounds much better in my ears, great cab.

I can imagine what your hearing as I used to run my old Marshall through an Engl standard cab with V60's. Is this the same as you had? All I know is it was far from smooth but it had loads of presence if not a bit too much for my ears. Sounded quite spikey in the highs too if you know what I mean, maybe it just wasn't run in properly. Its long gone now though..

I think I going to go for a 10 band parametric and sling it in the loop rather than a sonic max. Just seems the more versatile choice for what I want to achieve and it should help alot when I need to EQ to a room when playing live.

The Engl XXL is the bigger sized V30 cab ;)
The BBE is much easier for me, just turn it on and turn on the 2 knobs how strong the effect is,
and doing the tone shaping on the amp.
