New "old" rebel 20

New on the forum.


Just bought an Egnater Rebel 20 via eBay from a shop in the Netherlands.
the add says " New , in unopened original box, not used ".
( I live in the Netherlands )

When the amp arrives the box was opened and resealed with tape.
It turned out the amp serial number started with 0309 : march 2009.
Plus the amp doesn't function properly; fading volume and gritting gain.

The seller takes his responsibility regarding the sound problem and asks to send the amp back;
probably a faulty tube he says.

What's your opinion on this matter ?
Are there some major upgrades after march 2009 ?
Is it save to keep this amp ?

Welcome,fransoos ! About your 2° question,i think there was no major upgrades on the Rebel20 after March 2009.They did a mod to the effect loop but it was in 2008.It looks like your shop was not fully honest about the amp.If you're familiar with tube amps,you should be able to hear if you only have a bad tube (you could look inside and change them one by one to find the culprit..),there is a 3 months (at least) warranty for them.If not,send it back for repair.My Rebel20 is from 2008 and i never had any problem until now...It's a very good amp.Good luck !
