Just picked up an Uberschall Rev-2 (^-+) (#204) and must say that I get it now! Meaning, I understand why the REV-2 camp feels the way they do about this version. I also have a newer Rev-Blue (which I've been loving lately!!). After plugging in and playing the Rev-2, I can now understand the "sag" and spongyness in the notes and darker tone that guys refer to. I don't like the term "looser" because that term reminds me of Mesa's. This amp has punch and sag like an XTC meets an SLO type tone. It's still tight with articulation, but it's more in the "feel" of the amp while playing where you feel the sag and movement of the notes, especially for lead playing! I turned the gain down to 7 O'clock on the dial, cranked the master, and it had a killer Marshall/Soldano tone and feel as well. Reminded me of an SLO actually.
The Clean channel is similar to the Rev-Blue but has a little more bass response. Effects loop on the Rev-Blue is better and more transparent, but the Rev-2 loop still works great.
Bought it locally off Craigslist......Very happy to have another Uberschall with a different tone and feel. I LOVE Bogners and LOVE the Uberschall's!!
