New pickup installation question

I haven't installed pickups in at least 20 years.

I have a small control cavity and an excess of pickup wire, which I usually kept in case I wanted to put the pickups in another guitar.

Do you / how much do you, trim the excess pickup wire? I'm thinking trimming them back to the full length / end of the cavity.

Thoughts?

I leave them as is. I'm no whiz on the guitar like most of you, I'm just speaking to the electronic theory of your question. That short distance wont equate to much attenuation. It could also induct more emr but your pickup will be 99.9% of that problem in a noisy environment. Try not to evaluate your signal v noise with nearby motors running especially these newer direct drive washing machines. The drive units on those can be heard on an AM radio 100 yards away. On a side note, cold soldier joints, dirty switches, loose connections, etc can really attenuate your signal. Our pickups produce so little voltage that it doesn't take much to cause a problem.

Tiny zip ties! I use them as well as small cable clamps for anything and everything electronic anymore to keep things tidy.
Thumbtacks, also work. Don't ask me how I know... :ROFLMAO:
