John Suhr and Co. have floored me. This is Exactly what I was hoping for.
My expectations have been exceeded in Every way.

Forgive the coffee displays in the background, it arrived at the store I manage
and I couldn't wait to take pics. :)

I wish my crappy cellphone pics could do the slightest justice to this guitar.

Oh Crap I forgot to post the obligatory Spec Sheet.

:)

SSV in the neck and SSH+ in the bridge.
The tone control pulls out and splits the bridge in parallel.

congratulations to your new guitar!
the modern is by far the best guitar I laid my fingers on...

Straight up awesome guitar. It has the look of a stripper that takes all your money.... Love that neck with the side bar inlays. Someday.......

What is the purchase story? Where and did you get a decent deal?

Thats a Great description!!

I wanted something simple and elegant but dangerous looking.
I had never played a Suhr before, I was coming from using EBMM Lukes exclusively.
I wanted something radically different to reinvigorate my playing and imagination.

I custom ordered it through Eddie Berman at Indoor Storm. He is Awesome!!

I made a few changed in the first couple of months. I added a pull pot on the tone
control to split the rear pick-up in parallel. I went to the Suhr shop and Mike
helped me pick out my Maple top, I think we picked well :) Thanks Mike!!!!
While there I had the chance to play a Modern for the first time and realized that I couldn't
gel with the original neck shape I ordered (the .780 - .830 Elliptical). So I called Eddie and asked if
I could change to the Govan shape (.800 - .850) with the shoulders sanded down.
He called back and said that even though they had already cut my neck they would make me a new one!!

Awesome.

The guitar wasn't cheap... at all. So I didn't get a "good deal" in the sense of haggling a lower price.
I went into it expecting to spend a Lot and considering what I got.....
it was a great deal!
Worth every single penny and second of wait time.
I am more than happy with what I paid for it.
I won't hesitate to buy more gear from Suhr.

What is the purpose of shoulders of neck sanded down ?

It creates a rounder feel. The shoulders of the modern neck profile felt a bit too pronounced for me.
The sanding rounded everything out.

Thanks so much for replying. I just order my suhr modern, so I want it to know. I think I will get the same inlays on my fretboard.
