After waiting all day for the brown truck to come by, it finally showed up!
The amp came loaded with el34s but the seller (Justin on these forums) also included a set of 5881s(sitting on top of the amp in the picture), but I was so excited I just wanted to play the amp that I haven't tried the other tubes yet.
So first impression of the amp, WOW it sounds GREAT at low volumes! I sold my mesa boogie dual rectifier to help fund this, and I'm just happy that now I'll be playing my amp everytime I pick up my guitar, and not just once every few weeks during practice and/or gig!I did briefly take the volume up for a bit, and of course it sounds better, but honestly I was thrilled with my bedroom tone.
As for the modules: It came with DLX, VOX and SL2. As they came to me, the DLX and sl2 had electro harmonix tubes and the Vox had the svetlana preamp tubes. I didn't pay too much attention to details today because I just wanted to play...well in short I absolutely loved the DLX and the VOX. I am really surprised by how amazing the VOX channel B distortion is! I had channel A using my split coil tones to get a nice jangly sound, and then channel B with the humbucker just kicked all sorts of major ass. The mid knob reacts really well in this module and shapes the tone up nicely. I think I could totally be hapy with the DLX and VOX module for a gig, although I know I'm going to be collecting way more of these modules....tone is addicting!
I was kind of surprised that the VOX was what amazed me and not the SL2, after hearing so much raving about it here. To be fair, I spent the least time with the SL2 because I loved the other ones right off the bat, so I'm no where near giving up on that module (I really only spent 5-7 minutes on it?). Tomorrow I'll spend more time with it and open it up a bit as I'm sure it also would sound great at louder volumes too. I did like the A channel in SL2 actually, for the little I spent with it. I'll also try swapping around some preamp tubes.
Take all of this with a grain of salt when i come back next week saying "SL2 rocks my world", since this is only a very preliminary tone report, and just hope this honeymoon doesn't end
