After waiting all day for the brown truck to come by, it finally showed up!

The amp came loaded with el34s but the seller (Justin on these forums) also included a set of 5881s(sitting on top of the amp in the picture), but I was so excited I just wanted to play the amp that I haven't tried the other tubes yet.

So first impression of the amp, WOW it sounds GREAT at low volumes! I sold my mesa boogie dual rectifier to help fund this, and I'm just happy that now I'll be playing my amp everytime I pick up my guitar, and not just once every few weeks during practice and/or gig!I did briefly take the volume up for a bit, and of course it sounds better, but honestly I was thrilled with my bedroom tone.

As for the modules: It came with DLX, VOX and SL2. As they came to me, the DLX and sl2 had electro harmonix tubes and the Vox had the svetlana preamp tubes. I didn't pay too much attention to details today because I just wanted to play...well in short I absolutely loved the DLX and the VOX. I am really surprised by how amazing the VOX channel B distortion is! I had channel A using my split coil tones to get a nice jangly sound, and then channel B with the humbucker just kicked all sorts of major ass. The mid knob reacts really well in this module and shapes the tone up nicely. I think I could totally be hapy with the DLX and VOX module for a gig, although I know I'm going to be collecting way more of these modules....tone is addicting!

I was kind of surprised that the VOX was what amazed me and not the SL2, after hearing so much raving about it here. To be fair, I spent the least time with the SL2 because I loved the other ones right off the bat, so I'm no where near giving up on that module (I really only spent 5-7 minutes on it?). Tomorrow I'll spend more time with it and open it up a bit as I'm sure it also would sound great at louder volumes too. I did like the A channel in SL2 actually, for the little I spent with it. I'll also try swapping around some preamp tubes.

Take all of this with a grain of salt when i come back next week saying "SL2 rocks my world", since this is only a very preliminary tone report, and just hope this honeymoon doesn't end

Congrats! Ive been wantin to pick up a DLX module, hopefully I can still talk to Jeff into makin one. Enjoy!

The Vx module is amazing..I was stupid to sell mine..but hey, can't have everything :D

I like the SL2 but I think I prefer it with at least one Chinese ax9 in there..seperates it better from the EG3/4. I like to run the SL2 with Bright set to 2 also...something I almost don't do on any other module..but it really gives that agressive, heavy Marshall crunch that way.

I think, on balance, the modules sound best with the stock Sovtek 5881s. It might not be ideal for some modules but as an overall compromise..I liked it.

My MOD50 ships out on the weekend :(

If you ever need a matching cab for that MOD50...? ;)

haha, thanks for the offer, but I'm plenty happy with the CAE; plus I already have the roadcase for it. I foresee any free money going towards modules/e2 whenever it comes out, or maybe a sma1l 1x12 to try out or do a wet/dry thing. The ater would be only if a good deal falls in my lap really, I'm in no rush. Still good luck with your sale Steve.

I was out all day today, but my father actually has a bunch of extra preamp tubes stashed up so I hope to try them out when I get the chance. I'll definitely give it a try with the bright boost, seems obvious but I may not have tried that otherwise. Really though it's just been a lack of playing time and messing around with it, but it's only because I'm so happy with the distortion of the vox module! Turn the mids up on that and it sounds incredible.
