Got my first axe with SD vintage P90s

Why is the adjustment screw a left handed thread

Why is it so much more precise than turning a HB screw.

I get about a 1/16 of a turn to get the same results of a full turn on HBs

P90’s are directly mounted to the body via wood screws. So tightening the screw lowers the pickup by pulling it closer to the body (compressing the foam or springs under the pickup). Something like an LP with pickup rings, tightening the screw pulls the pickup toward the ring, raising the pickup.

The wood screws have a much more coarse thread so less turns required to move the screw in or out, vs machine screws with finer thread for pickup-ring mounted humbuckers, means more turns required to move the screw in or out.

TY.
Figured that but never unmounted one b4.
My first P90 in almost 50 yrs.
Can't believe all the fun i missed out on

They’re really fun, almost as muscular as a humbucker but still unmistakably a single coil
