Hello Diezel community,

just bought my first Diezel amp off good old ebay, a 100W Einstein head. If all goes well it will get here on Friday, just in time for band practice. Words cannot describe how excited I am to try it out

While I am at it, a quick question. The cab I am planning on using will be a Marshall JCM 900 LEAD 1960 (loaded with Celestion G12T-75 if I remember correctly) of one of my band mates. Does anyone have any experience with this cab in combination with the Einstein? Are they a good match? I am aware that tone is a matter of personal taste, but sure would like to get your input.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Du kannst gerne mal bei mir vorbei schauen,
dann checken wir den Amp. Marshall Boxen
sind gut, aber nicht die Endlösung.

Welcome to the board

Hallo Peter,

vielen Dank für deine Antwort und natürlich auch das Angebot. Werde es ganz sicher wahrnehmen!

Ach ja und nochmal Danke für das herzliche Wilkommen!!!

Congrats on the new amp!!

I know the 'excitedness' your feeling.

Once you hear the Diezel......its all over.
No more looking around for new amps.

Unless its another Diezel! :D

Dan

I'm not sure what Peter answered :), but let me tell you this:
G12t75 are probably the worst speaker from the Celestion line. I played them many times, because everywhere you go you get those 1960B cabs, with various amps, and always hated them. recently I went to a gig with my Einstein, and obviously, I was shown a shining 1960B. It sounded absolutely horrible, I could have played a 200E amp and get the exact same sound.
I simply cannot understand why anybody buys those cabs, nothing sounds good through them, and miked they are even more horrible then they are "live"

I tried the Einstein with V30s - sounds great, that's what I use right now, and also with G12k100s - a very different sound, pretty scooped but not bad. Has the scooped sound of the G12T75, but a MUCH improved tone and definition.

Do yourself a favour, if you got such a fine amp - get a REAL cab, with REAL speakers
Oh, and sorry for the rant

Thanks a lot for the welcome Dan and dass101 for your detailed feedback!

@dass101 I already suspected that the cab is not an ideal solution given the characteristics of the Einstein. Problem is that my funds are kind of depleted at the moment so it might be a while until I can really start thinking about getting a new cab. I will however definitely take your advice into account when doing so. Much appreciated!

The lead guitarist of our band has a Mesa Roadster 212 combo with v30s, so I may be able to a/b the two running the Einstein over the built in speakers :)

I honestly believe that an average high gain amp with a good cab and good speakers sounds much better than a high end amp through a bad cab/speaker. The basic tone comes from the speakers, you just can't compromise on that.
So, you should start saving for a decent cab, it will be worth it, I can guarantee :)

My schmidt sounds phenominal through my 1960A with gt12-75's, which surprised me as I hadn't used that cab for ages instead opting for my 1960BV with v30's with the rest of my amps.

Sure there are better cabs out there but I consider marshall to be pretty solid/industry standard cabs that will do what you want with an acceptable amount of quality. Although it doesn't hurt to open the back and tighten the speaker screws and what not.
