I just picked up the Tweaker head a couple of days ago. after trying it in the store with my Strat (American Special),a 56' Reissue Epiphone Goldtop, Ibanez Artcore AS73 (same hollow body I have) and the Epiphone Slash Signature model and Tele,I was sold. I ran the head through a Jet City 12" cabinet (I it think had the same Eminence speaker as my Epiphone cabinet) and all the guitars sounded great! I should have bought this amp last year instead of the POS Valve Jr. that I bought. nothing but problems with that thing. Gibson is sending me my second replacement (also had a repair on one of the replacements),so third times a time and I'm dumping this thing. luckily GC said they would take it back after almost a year when the replacement arrives next week. o.k. rant off.
when I went to GC the other day to test amps to see what I was going to buy I had a list of possible candidates:
Vox Night Train
Bugera V22
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (used)
Egnater Tweaker
salesman said the V22 was the amp he has seen returned for failure more than any other amp,so that one was out. didn't want the same fiasco as the Valve Jr.
Hot Rod Deluxe was used ($450) and I could only buy a 1 year warranty on it. my friend has one and says it is very loud,as did the salesman. didn't come with the foot switch either.
plugged in the Tweaker and tried all the above guitars and messed around for about an hour and a half to two hours. just loved it. nice cleans with the Strat, good crunch with the humbuckers.
never even plugged in the Vox Night Train.
I haven't really had a chance to crank up the Tweaker as Mrs. Wayne has been ill,but so far I'm really digging it. the diagrams in the back of the owners manual for setting your tone are very helpful for a novice like me. (I have only been playing (trying to play) for about a year and still learning about how to set the amp and guitar properly.)
I have yet to try it with my Epi LP with Pearly Gates,or with my pedals.
a couple of questions about the Tweaker:
do you run your pedals through loop on the back or through the front?
are using the "stock tubes or something else?
is there two or three 12ax7 tubes,I have read both so I'm not sure. looks like there is 3 in there to me.
