New V30s sound pretty good - John Browne YT vid

Hell yeah they do. I just got a new Mojo Canyon 2x12 that has one in it. I’ve had it for a week and have been scratching my head as to why it sounds so good (my intention all along was to pull the V30).

I saw this thread and popped the back off and there it is “Made in UK”. Didn’t even know this was a thing until now. I almost want another to fill the cab now.

Am I the only one that thinks it's BS that Celestion sells a product with such an insane amount of variance? Some of those don't even sound like the same model and or broken like someone mentioned.
If you ask them, the deny it... which I think is ridiculous given all the evidence there is.

I like my 2010 made in UK Mesa spec V30's in my roadster cab over any other V30 I've tried. Now that they are made in the UK again maybe they returned to the old specs.....:2thumbsup: The 2025 V30 definitely sounds less fizzy in the highs, smoother and less ratty mid spike.

It's insane

In literally ANY OTHER INDUSTRY then would have been slapped with fines, legal quagmires, and bad publicity at the very least

The difference between a late 80s Marshall branded v30 in a jube cab, and a late 2010s chinese loaded Orange cab, are so unbelievably large that it should actually be illegal for celestion to describe them as the same speaker.

It's really obnoxious, and probably wasted thousands of dollars of peoples money. That's not to say that the newer stuff can't sound good. It absolutely CAN. But that makes it worse, because it's so inconsistent its almost impossible to keep track of all the different eras and changes in production.

So I pulled my new UK V30 (8 ohm) out of the 2x12 to compare to a few other speakers in a Mojo OS Canyon 1x12. Unfortunately, I don’t have any other V30’s on hand anymore. But I compared to a Fane F70 (16 ohm) Heritage G12H 75hz (8 ohm), UK Greenback (8 ohm), and Mojo BV-30H (8 ohm).

First thing I noticed is that it is noticeably quieter than the Heritage G12H……both at 100db rating. I’m fine with that.

The UK V30 is less spiky in the extreme high mids and treble compared to the G12H and has more low end. I would call the V30 fuller and rounder……but still very articulate. It sits right between the G12H and the Mojo BV-30H (which is very smooth/warm and quieter still).

I don’t like the Fane at all. I would call it 2D and “crispy” in comparison. The greenback is what it is…….my favorite speaker.

My plan is to put the greenback alongside the Mojo BV-30H in my Canyon 2x12 since they are closer in efficiency. The UK V30 will be paired with the Heritage G12H in my Splawn 2x12. My 1960ax will remain untouched as my favorite cab, but I would love to hear a quad of these new V30’s with a few hours on them. They are definitely different.
