New VH4 Owner having trouble with my effects

I just picked up a VH4 with 6l6's in it and I am having a little difficulty with using my analog effects. I am using a variety of effects that are all excellent quality. My problem is that I am running them between my guitar and my amp and there is such a big difference between how the different channels interact with the effects. If I use even a small amount of reverb on the clean channel, it is still too much for the higher gain channels. I own both a Road King as well as a Marshall JVM and neither of these has such a difference. I never had to bend down and adjust the effect level for each channel switch that I made. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am trying to stay away from going rack mount and setting the input levels for every patch. I basically use a small amount of reverb, delay, chorus, tremolo and wah very sparingly and like to have the ability to use any of them at will. There is nothing worse than an over processed signal.

As a general rule

Effects like reverb, chorus and delay go to the parallel loop
Compressors and EQ go to serial loop
Only boosts and wah go in front (and usually the wah first in the chain)

VH4 is a very versatile amp that gives you all these features and you have no need spending money on extra expensive gear like switches, mixers and buffers.

You gain absolutely nothing putting all those stompboxes in front (only signal degradation) and guitar pickups produce a very weak signal.
