Newbee, sorry! First, "HI" to all! Glad to join the party,

OK, currently working forward from 146 forum pages ago to today. Edumacating myself on the fine Egnater tradition. Only played a Tourmaster, loved channels 3 and 4. My goal is to aquire an M4 with Bman, VX, SL, EG3/4 mods. I play in a variety band so I need the sounds to match, IE: 50's to today.
I have Fender, Vox and Marshall amps (great sounds but one trick ponies). I've been through the RP1000, JMP1, ADA preamps (nice but too digital sounding (or stolen)). I'm ready to go ALL analog WITH variety.

THE BIG QUESTION, are M4's still being made? I'm not interested in Randall (from what I've read & being more old school (read as OLD) I think I should stick with Eggie) plus I love the dual sounds. I saw there was a mod run in June, I can't afford to get everything at once, so in your mass wise opinion what would be the best way forward? New/Used M4, Mods first? I've seen two different Egnater websites, which one is current?

Hope I didn't ramble on, time for another beer...

I don't think they're producing M4s right now. I look occasionally at EBay and Craigslist for modular series stuff. Got a Mod 50 in great condition last year that way. I've seen an M4 for sale within the past year or two on Craigslist.

The website that features the non-modular Egnater stuff is the more current site.

You're right. They were doing a run of modules this summer, and they may still be doing it. Ask Bruce himself. His e-mail is easily found in the threads about the module run, I think. You could probably ask him about an M4 too. I doubt that they're making them. He did say that they were making a couple of Mod 50 heads recently. I don't know if he has sold them already. In lieu of an M4 that might be a way to go.

Regarding what you should get first M4 or modules, it might be dictated by what's available out there. I see modules come up for sale occasionally. I also have seen an M4, some Mod 50s, and a Mod 100, but they're not always out there. Neither are the modules. If you're committed to this route, it might just be dictated by cash flow and what comes on the market. I'd be nervous about buying a module that I couldn't test in an M4 or an amp, though. So, you might benefit by waiting for an M4 or modular amp before getting modules. But... I can't imagine that Bruce wouldn't support a module. I imagine the module modifiers out there could also repair a module for you if need be.
