Feel is in between a Custom and Standard, with a fat neck and hot bridge pickup. The neck feels more flat than the 12" radius. Setup from factory is low and fast, no dead spots, even with big bends. Bridge pup is Gibson's take on the Duncan Distortion. High output, clear and articulate. Great, better than a 500t or Dimarzio SD. I'm curious how the Tonenerd Psykes compares. I think it has the same output, but with more bite on the treble strings. Comparing to the Psykes in the Explorer, the AJ sounds huge, but subdued highs. The Explorer sounds more middy, but solos ring out more. Riffs on the AJ are outstanding. Bigger than the Explorer. The Suhr Modern with mahogany body, maple top, SSH+ is lacking in comparison. That's saying something. Because that guitar is badass.
The AJ is definitely not a vintage sounding guitar. I think it could be if I replaced the pups with the Godwood set.
Quality, meh. Found some glue on the fretboard, orange peel at the neck joint on the back. Much like my 02 Classic. No such issues on the 335, which is now up for sale.
Overall, one of the best playing and sounding Les Pauls I've owned. Satisfies my need for a Silverburst, ebony board LP. I think it's going to be a longterm keeper.

Sick! Love the Silverburst LP's 🤘View attachment 175045
Been wanting a custom, or the 2010ish standard for years, to match my 2010 SB SG.
Was stoked when the AJ came out, but took forever before I had a chance to play one. Knew fastlike that it was going home.
A quick comparison with the ES-335, Explorer and Suhr, I put the 335 up for sale. The AJ LP is much more my thing.
Honeymooning!

I can see why you're honeymooning, that's a great looking guitar. Looks killer without the pickguard too.

Assuming it plays/sounds half as good as it looks, I'm sure the lovefest will continue!

I don't know what it is exactly, but Silverburst LP's just hit the spot. Enjoy! \,,/

Thanks man! It's definitely a specialized feeling guitar. Dunno how describe it. Very precise for what it wants to achieve. Flat fretboard, beefy neck, hot bridge pickup. It wants to rock. Can't wait to spend more time with it.

My SG has been a fav for years. This kicks it up a notch. Feels like a big barrel V8 muscle car that wants to drag race.

You sure it's ebony ? Doesn't look like it from a distance.
