I "needed" another guitar for prototyping
I know, right? My justification is:Rarely ever see guitars like this . About time
Haha, no, just a chronic tinkerer. Haven't built an amp in almost 4-5 years, but I don't own any commercial amps. My Roccaforte was modded by me and my 100 ToneNerd was such a PIA to build that I'll never do another.Holy crap , I see ToneNerd amplification in that pic . Scott does it all apparently .
I have my Kramer Focus 1000 that's angled. But that has a rosewood board , so yes, I guessBecause of the angled mounting?
Sunset StripLet us know which pickup you like most for VH. I am again on that quest and have picked up a vintage JB for now.
For VH, I don't hear JB at all. I hear a higher resonant peak, which is what a PAF type or what you get with a ceramic in a higher output pickup. I don't even think anything close to what the more common 14k/A2s spec the EVH brand uses was used in any of the early albums m I think that's a spec that mixed with basswood, gives you a similar feel to what ceramic gives you with other tonewoods. That being a little sag in the low end and a little bit of a bounce to the feel. So far, my ears are leaning toward of the various ceramic variants, Duncan Custom, Super Distortion, Mighty Might 1300. The earliest Super D's and the 1300s weren't potted from the factory. I can't imagine them being use without being potted at the gain levels of VH1.Let us know which pickup you like most for VH. I am again on that quest and have picked up a vintage JB for now.
My guess would be import. I think only the USA and early MIJ had USA versionsDon't those guitars come with a real Wolfgang pickup ?

If I'm being honest. The stock pickup sounds great. And I didn't intend on keeping the pickup in regardlessWhat a joke , even those non USA versions are pricey and should at least come with a legit Wolfgang pickup imo.
