I saw this Jackson on Craigslist for $200 and I have been wanting a "shredder" guitar for some time. Picked it up, man it plays like butter! Pickups sound decent, probably will change the bridge. I ran the serial # and it says it's a 96? Is that correct? I don't know shit about Jacksons and the serial numbers are kind of confusing. Anyway heres some pics.

if for $200 you can keep it in tune and the frets aren't liked barbed-wire..id say you got a pretty good deal.
is that paint swirled? or am i seeing a reflection.. that photo looks like a swirl paint...pretty cool looking.

Yep its a blue swirl. Those pics are shitty

Congrats. I have had some cheap jacksons. What I haven't found is a bad playing jackson.

On a seven-digit number the serial only tells you that it was made after 1996, I think they just went serially thru 96XXXXX, 97XXXXX and so on. I´d say this one is from the early 2000s.

what pickup will you go with? just curious...

these Kramer's, the old Charvels, nana headstock and strat headstock alike just look like old 80's shredder-RnR.

Sweet! Made in Japan!
This guitar plays like a million bucks.

Whatever cheap Duncan custom or JB I can find first. I don't really give a shit about pickups that much if they are just decent output and sound clear.

Alright boys it's been about 2 weeks since I bought this guitar. I have to say I am absolutely blown away by the playability of this guitar. I have been playing stock Fender American teles pretty much exclusively for years and this guitar is so out of the box for me but it feels effortless to play. Sadly the pickups suck. So now, I need to find a hss pickup set to roll with. But man for a late 90s guitar for only $200...damn.

Thinking about that right now. I dont play many humbuckers to be honest, usually I have liked JBs in any humbucker guitars. But I wanna turn this into a badass shredder now with big output but clarity. I just can't spend $300 on a humbucker and feel right about it. Thing is I really really wanna find a great vintage stratty single coil for the neck. I might remove the middle pickup because, who the hell uses those?

I would recommend a Duncan Custom Custom for the bridge.

- yea I am partial to Duncan’s stuff.
- jalen could wind something to your specs. His stuff is very reasonably priced I think.
- though they may be overpriced right now, a used Wolfgang for the bridge would hotrod that thing quickly.

but now I’m sitting here thinking about all those models I’ve seen on local CL for cheap and never really give it a second look. Greta deal for you man!
