1987 Ibanez 440P Roadstar II
They only made these 1 year. I had a Reverb search notification going for about 2 years and finally one popped up that was a match to my first. Grabbed it a few months ago. Last night I finally took it apart, swapped the scratchy electronics and put a Tom Anderson H3+ in the bridge and a Tom Anderson SA2 in the neck. It did not have the original pickups.

Cleaned it up and did a setup. It plays amazing, its action is insanely low with no buzz. It really rips, better than I remember my original. Great shape for a 38 year old guitar.

Technically my first guitar was a cheap pawn shop Cort Flying V. I abused the hell out of it and never really played it. Then I got serious, worked all summer and bought a brand new Ibanez 440P Roadster II for $550 in a small music store in Escatawpa MS (pronounced Esca Tob Uh). I remember it like it was yesterday. Paired it with an Orion Distortion pedal and a fender champ and thought I was George Lynch!!

I had this guitar from 1987 until around 2010 until I destroyed it. It was my only guitar from 87 until around 2007 when I found these damn boards....

It traveled the world while I was in the Navy. I had it on the ship stationed in Japan. Here is a picture of me on the USS Hewitt out in the middle of the Red Sea jamming with my old Ibby. I bought a Marshall Valvestate combo (can't remember the exact numbers of the model) in Japan and had it out there too (pictured).
Me and some guys off the ship had a little band and used to have a lot of fun. We had a steel beach picnic while underway (out at sea) which means we grill, relax, can wear regular clothes and swim.
