I bit the bullet, and went after, (to me), the holy grail of bucket list guitars. Behold, the new LP Standard Goldtop! There's some smokin' deals out there, dealers are wheelin' and dealin' to end the year. I got this brand new for less than clowns on Reverb are asking for used. BEEFY neck. Feels nice, and fit and finish is on point. Not even the signature tool gouging on the fretboard. Beautifully cut nut. Set up is pretty good, actually, just needs a truss rod tweak, and some fingerboard conditioning. Have to wait until I get off work, damn it! It'll get the full setup....

This one certainly is. I still can't get over the fretboard. It's flawless. Clean, not a tool mark on it. Can't wait to get it oiled up and those shitty Gibson strings off.

What's cool is, you get a blank truss rod cover in the case too! That's a nice touch, I always change to blank ones anyway!

Hell yeah that looks amazing. I’ve always had a soft spot for gold top Les Paul’s since I saw Zakk wylde in his high school band ripping on one live.

Is this a 50’s style neck on a standard? I thought most standards come in 60’s style?

My traditional is a 50’s style baseball bat and I fucking love that thing. It’ll make you a better player for sure.

I always try to describe that smell...it's like maple syrup and tobacco or something. It's intoxicating. They should make a candle called "New Les Paul"

Nice! A gold top is on my bucket list. I did just have a 2022 60's Standard in iced tea just land. And oh the smell! Had the case open for a few minutes and my whole music room smelled like new Les Paul for hours! It was glorious.

I almost cry because of an acquaintance/friend I knew in CA text me one day and said he was at guitar center thinking of trading in his gold top 2011 trad pro. I text back and asked him what he was trading for/etc. i told him(since I played that guitar a few times) to not take an offer from them and to call me asap cuz I will buy it off him. I was ghosted after that. Like 3 hours later he texts me a picture of his new 5150III. I asked it he kept the gold top? He said he traded it in and got $800. I lost my shit on him. Told him I woulda gave him a grand easy and it would be going to a friend. Fuckin moron. To this day I’m still bitter.

I just got the same guitar. I open it sometimes with no intentions of playing it for just that reason.

It's a 50's. In fact, you can only get a Goldtop in a 50's Standard, (aside from Custom Shop stuff). It's nice they went back to offering a 50's and 60's Standard, but they only offer 3 colors in each.

Yes, this neck is a fat one. Not quite as fat as the 2013 Traditional I bought new back then, (it was baseball bat fat). But it's definitely beefier than the 50's rounded on my SG Standard.
