Honest question, what's the motivation for doing something like this? Is this some weird new youtube algorithm manipulation trick or something?

Or does he think that by making a 9 hour video, a music store will be given an "easy" decision to play it at some random TV in the background without having to think about managing the TV again for the rest of the shift?

Honestly I think it is.

Longer videos have been the trend recently now that the shorter ones can be shortened further and relegated to "shorts"

People listen to long videos like they listen to podcasts now, apparently.

But 9 hours is beyond pushing it lmao.

Personally, I choose to view him through the lens of he is BSing and clowning around for entertainment purposes only. That very well may not be the case in reality. At the same time, that's 9 hours of life I won't get back.
