No Midi signal getting to rocktron xpression from Herbert

Hey guys,

Was wondering if you might know what the problem is. I'm running a ground control pro to the Midi in of my Herbert, and its been working fine for channel switching. I'm not also trying to control the Xpression with the ground control, via the Midi through coming out of the Herbert. It seems like the Xpression is not seeing any midi data coming through. I have the Herbert set to midi channel 1 and the rocktron set to channel 2. I even tried setting the rocktron to omni mode so it sees all midi channels, and it still won't change presets. I'm working if maybe the midi through jack is dead? I've swapped midi cables, so I know the cable is not the issue.

Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.

Doesn't all the Rocktron stuff require a 7 pin midi and the Diezel a 5 pin? You probably have a patch cable with the wrong 3 pins wired.

Also, try plugging direct into Midi In on your Rocktron from the GCX Midi Out, then Midi Out from the Expression to amp midi In. You may have to power your GCX as opposed to phantom power.

Found an adapter to power the ground control, plugged it right into the rocktron, and it changes presets, so I'm thinking the problem is with the herbert midi through. These cables are supposed to be wired 5 pin discreet, so they all should be wired. I'd rather have the pedal connected to the herbert first, so it can power it via midi rather than using a wall wort. Any other ideas besides the midi thru port being bad?
 
Have you got your Expression manual? It takes a 7 pin MIDI cable. I think you have some conflict from the MIDI thru to your Expression in. The Herbert may be sending signal, just being received on the wrong pins of the Expression. This would exhaust my MIDI knowledge as you have covered the assignment and OMNI options. I will pass to someone else....

Make sure your Herbert and rocktron are set to omni. I remember I had problem getting my MIDI thru to work with the Xpression. It work straight in but not with the Herbert. It was something in the Xpression that I had to change and then everything worked fine. Sorry, but I can't remember what it is.
