Hey guys,

I have a question about some noise I'm hearing from my amp, maybe somebody can help me figure out what it could be.

The amp in question is a Rebel 30 and I'm running it through an Avatar 2x12. I've been noticing a faint squealing noise coupled with noticeable breakup/distortion whenever I'm playing at a moderate volume and let a low D#/Eb note ring out. It doesn't seem to be occurring with any other note, and it can be heard on both channels of the amp.

Sound like a possible speaker problem, or a problem with the amp? This stuff is brand new, and this is my first amp besides a small Crate practice amp so I'm not very knowledgeable.

pre amp tube most likely. Get yourself a few from someone like dougstubes.com and start swapping them out one at a time. You can however possibly find the culprit by having the amp on, then gently tapping each pre amp tube with a pencil eraser and you'll hear the "noise" through the speakers when you get to the bad one. Or if it's really new, contact John or Nate at egnateramps.com and they'll help you out and shoot you some new tubes. It's just the nature of the beast with tubes. Good luck.
