Noob Bias Question!

Hi Guys..
I had the 5881 valves in it biased to 32mv, and when I stuck in the EL34 the bias was 2mv until I adjusted it back to 38mv? This is probably normal tho? I thought it sounded great with the 5881, but it fricken rocks with the EL 34. Even suits the vx module. ,,Macka
 
Yes, that is normal. Different tube types have different bias requirements. Be aware it will do the opposite if you put 5881/6L6s in so you will need to adjust each time you change tubes.
 
Cool, thanx Bruce!, Also is it necessary to power down the head to change modules, or if you are careful, is it ok to just switch the stanby off? thanx..Macka
