I know you can run different sets of tubes in the Herbert but what sets correspond with what channel?
I see when you biasing you have 1/6, 2/5, 3/5 together is That Channel 1 is 1/6 and 2 is 2/5 and etc??
Or are they all in use all the time?

I hope this makes sense.. What I have envisioned in my head is like I can use 6L6s in Channel 1 (1/6) for a warm fat fender tone and EL34 in Channel 2 (2/5) for Marshall tones and so on

Thanks
Bryan

PS
I see this on the site:
Recommended current settings for pairs in a VH4:
5881: 50 mA
6L6: 60 to 70 mA
EL34 60 to 70 mA
6550, KT88: 80 to 100 mA

but where are the specs for the Herbert for these tubes?

All power tubes are used at all times and for all channels

I think the bias is the same.

BTW don't worry even with EL34's the cleans are awesome. Don't forget the mid-cut to get more tones option also.

It sounds like your thinking about the Mesa Road King. It may have the ability to program the power section, but compared
to Herbert it's a glorified paper weight.

The bias settings for the VH4 will be the same for Herbert. With all six tubes fired up the plate voltage is around 477V, the same as the VH4.
The biasing is 1/6, 2/5 and 3/4. If your thinking about pulling tubes, I would not. When the draw of the two tubes are removed the plate voltage
and bias go up on the other four and can wear them out or cause reliability issues.

Thanks for the info and advice

After taking the back off and looking at the tubes and really thinking about how freaking great it sounds anyway with all the options to dial in tone.
I'm going to leave it alone and just jam on it!

I see that 3/4 has been replaced with JJs.. Someone has changed those prior to me owning it.

Seeing that it's a 2005 it's probably good those tubes were changed. I have been running SED 6550's and this week I am trying out
EL34BHT's and JJ EL34's. So far, 4 EL34BHT's and Two JJ EL34L's are the sh¢t. Still trying to decide (Hard) not to go back to 6550's.
These damn amps are too versatile. :D
