Norman's Rare Guitars doc

On my watchlist.
I have not watched it yet, but hoping for a actual documentary, as opposed to a test pilot for the "next" Pawn Stars / Storage Wars, series.

Yeah let's watch a show about a guy who runs a music store. What's next, a behind-the-music episode on some yourtube gear shill? Get a damn life.

They already do that themselves!
I'm thinking about a rant-bashing thread for all the guitar forum-youtube stuff that is ailing me lately. Plus I been crawling underneath a nasty double wide fixing plumbing and am tired and pissed off lately.

Yep. He's the reason vintage guitars are so expensive. Hoard those fuckers for a couple decades, trickle a few out here and there. Cha ching.
At the end of the day idiots with more cash than brains, mainly boomer idiots, are the ones who caused this. Hype is such a powerful tool when it comes to selling "vintage". Meanwhile most of the dudes buying them can't play a barre chord cleanly. Most vintage guitars and amps are nothing special. I'm sure all the good stuff are in personal collections of the Norms and Bonamassas, among others. So he's selling the shit guitars if you really think about it.

Anyone watch this on Netflix? Buy or sell guitars there?
I use to shop there in the old location in the mid 70’s to late 80’s. In my early teens I bought a few guitars there & Norm squashed anything else being sold to me until I turned 18. Technically he was right, contracting with a minor, deals could be unwound, etc.
One of the guys who worked there would sell me stuff on the side. In the same building strip The Amp Shop (Roger Stamps, Jim Wigle,
Alan Mirikitani aka BB Chung King) and Toru Nittono were great.

I am actually fine with him selling the shit guitars to rich collectors who can't play, and save the "private" ones for discerning artists.
