I'm realy interested in Egnator amps and would like to buy one, but i would also like some answers to questions about amps that seemed ready for market over a year ago.
the detroit 5 or 18 seemed like they were built for me, and couldnt wait to confirm that, but at some point the wait just dont seem worth it.
and i would hate to buy something else just as they become available.

After reading about their customer service or lack of, maybe i will look elsewhere.

There's more to their customer service then just the complaints. I have had a Renegade for about two years with no problems. I had a Tourmaster for 3 or 4 years before that with only a couple of minor issues that they addressed quickly. Its still tough to beat Egnater for the combination of price and quality.

I've had nothing but good dealings with Egnater - yes those with issues shout loudly but they are not the whole story!

I've got 2 M4's and a Mod50, deal with Bruce directly and I've never had any issues beyond tubes (and yes these happen on my Diezel Herbert and Soldano SLO too).

I'd advocate researching what you are going to buy - learning a bit about tube amps in general and going for what sounds good to you ;-)

Here is another perspective.

I think the egnater amps sound good.

I will never buy one secondary to the way I have seen complaint threads handled.

I always feel bad for the guy having issues AFTER someone from egnater chimes in.

It never feels like competent customer service and given the high component failure rate it is necessary.

I have 2 Renegades. I own a 112 combo and the Renegade head w/212 tourmaster cab. I have used these daily since 2009. Both have failed, but were repaired. The bottom line is nothing sounds better to me. I played a gig in Orlando were I was supplied a Bogner Shiva 212 combo. Sounded great but it made me appreciate what I have....to me the Bogner and my Renegade have a similar tone. I even bought a used mod 50 with a T/D module and EG 3/4 module used from Guitar Center. It was good, but I preferred my Renegades!! I took the mod 50 back -heresy I know! I am always looking for something that I think might be better, but I have not found it. I play in a band that covers country, funk, classsic rock etc and it sounds great. I get compliments on my tone....not so much my playing. "Hey! that amp sounds great!" or "That Renegade is a Beast!" I love the features especially the 2nd master solo boost. I can't live without that. Keep the faith!!

BTW, I have never met Bruce Egnater. But he has personally responded to my emails in a timely manner.

Yes, I am a fan.

I love his USA module stuff. I'd gobble an E2 up if it ever came out.
I had one of the GC heads for a week and returned it. It was super clear, but was sterile and lacked punch & power. Based off the readings here, the quality control on the GC lineup is super concerning

My Rebel 20 has been going strong for going on four years now with no problems so far. If you look at some of the forums, just about every high production amp manufacturer has issues with their amps. Fender, Blackstar, Marshall, Vox you name it. I'm not sure if I'd get one now until all the quality/customer service issues have been straightened out. Seems like it's getting there. The Rebel 20 sounds great to me, didn't like the 30 though. As for bang for the buck and unique features, Egnater's has it all. So far it's been a great amp, I gig with it regularly with no issues. Tubes will always be an issue with tube amps. I also build my own amps too, so far so good with them too. What you have to remember is Egnater sells a ton of these amps as does the other manufacturers I mentioned. There will be problem amps and those with the problems will be the most vocal. The way the problems are handled is another matter.

You're right, the features are fantastic. If everyone had an experience like yours, it would be a a super hit.

I own a Rebel 30 and I'm really happy with it, especially the clean channel. Never played the 20 though. I always have thought that the Rebel 30 lead channel is identical to the Rebel 20. Am I wrong? How would you describe the difference? ...just curious...

I also had problems with the 30- too noisy and hissy, went through several of them. I think the 20 has both gain and volume knobs, which the 30 doesn't have on the clean channel. It's like a Fender- loud right from the get-go.
