So I got a DigiTech The Drop and having a lot of fun with it.

Took my Drop B guitar and starting jamming in Drop A. Killer. I was worried I'd hear the string in the different key as I don't play very loud at home. But at any volume dirty (even bedroom level) it was fine. I could notice it a hair at bedroom level and clean. But at normal daytime volume (people in the next room), no issues clean or dirty. And clearly no issues with it cranked.

Now I don't have to buy another guitar to play below Drop B. Doesn't mean I wont :)

How is the tracking/response on it? You'd have to have things a bit cranked to really know. I have been thinking about getting one to make it easier to play in different keys with various guitars.

What do you mean by tracking/response? I haven't tracked with it in my DAW. But live there is no lag.
Yes I mean the live tracking. If you use chords as opposed to single notes, some people can't keep up.

Sometimes pedals have the slightest bit of digital latency you can almost feel more than hear since it is such a small amount of time.
cool , I have the whammy DT which has the Drop, fun piece of gear for sure!! yeah it tracks fast

Thanks for that confirmation.

Tracking/response is perfect, the best there is as of today. The only drawback is a change in tone when going lower and lower, as if the guitar is becoming more and more anemic. It's not really noticeable until you go to four semitones below. Three semitones is OK.

Good pedal. Very useful. I feel like it’s very good for 1/2 and whole step down. It’s ok a bit lower than that but I don’t use any lower than 1 step down.

Way easier than changing guitars or trying to re-tune between songs or sets.

I leave all of my guitars in standard since I picked up a Drop about 5 years ago. When I go lower than a full step, I can start to notice some degradation in sound quality. I rarely do that though and in a mix, much less noticeable

Good to know. Yeah I kind of got it in hopes of taking my Drop B guitar up a notch. The G string with a 18 gauge string on it, just feels a bit unresponsive. But damn, now I want to be able to do drop A, so maybe I leave it.

Anything more than 2-3 sounds too dark and digital, but it's still the best out there.

I keep guitars in E & D standard typically then use mine for 1/2 step increments beyond those tunings.

I have the whammy drop and it’s great. I have not used it a whole lot but the little bit that I have…I dig it. Especially the whammy part.

Hypertune works great; no latency on my system. I have both their McRocklin Suite (since it was released), and their Nunchuck (since it was released) plugins, which include Hypertune.

Yes the Hypertune in McRocklin's Suite works better than the DROP pedal, but most of us use the Drop pedal with our bands, and Hypertune doesn't help me there. Anyway, ,I got my 1st Digitech Drop 10 years ago when it came out and nothing has surpassed it yet. I got a backup one last year , and my bassist got one then too. Meanwhile, YES there IS latency definitely with the DROP pedal, but it's totally playable and it's up to the person if they'd rather bring that 3rd and 4th guitar to their gigs, or like me, just bring 2 guitars and have THE DROP. To me it's 1 of the best pedals ever invented despite its latency
