NPD: King of Tone clone by 68 Pedals

In short, this is one of the best sounding pedals I've ever played through. You can set either side as CLN, OD, or DIST via interal DIP switching. I don't know what those two white knobs do? The pedals doesn't mess with my output impedance, so input into my tape echo is uneffected; like it was with my Zendrive 2. This blows the Zen 2 out of the drink! Sorry... I'm excited. It took 2 months to get, as I didn't know I could have requested expedited shipping. The build work is top-shelf, w/excellect solder work. There are gain level switches as well, so there's a setting for all tastes.

Don't think about buying one, just do it! $115 shipped for pure sonic bliss!

Have you tried an Rockett Archer pedal? I heard it's a good Klon clone. BTW, what tape echo you using? I'm in the market for one as well.

I have not. I did however puchase a Ceriatone Centura. I removed the fake "1N34A" diodes, and installed a proper replacement set of ECG109/NTE109 diodes. These are the OEM replacments for the 1N34A diodes; as used in the original large box KLON. The stock sound was about 90% there. The new diodes made it a dead-nuts match.

40$ ? That's a steal. Someone must really have thought it wasn't their tone to sell it for that. From the clips I've heard, it sounds close enough for what I would use it for? What type of pussy plays these as their only gain into a clean amp?? Pffffffft lame. It's all about the boost and some old school gainz kids!

The builder was selling them at about $50 plus shipping last year. The price went up a lot after the PotD coverage.

Wonder how close the sound is. The KOT is a VERY good pedal.

Clones are clones' I guess I don't care about people making them but wow if I was analogman id probably be pissed because it even looks exactly the same. No shame

I figured the original Klon used ITT 1n34a diodes. He lived in MA and at the time there was no internet. I assumed he would have just acquired local part from stores. Since ITT was local why not use their parts? It doesn’t make sense to pick up the phone and spending time to call stores and order parts from different parts of the country.
