Just got my Ceres today and part of me loves and a part of me hates. I love it cause its my KSR amp in a pedal format. If I dialed in my amp the same way and played you the pedal then my amp you really wouldnt be able to tell the difference. It's the first time I've had this experience with a preamp pedal. It has me questioning what I think I know about tube amps.

Now the part that I hate about it. It's insanely good to the point that it has me wondering if I should keep my Orthos or just sell it then get another type of amp(I've been shopping for something Marshall flavored). Part of me wishes I would have kept my Splawn Nitro and just got the Ceres. I'm going to keep my Orthos but I hate this pedal for putting the thought in my head as I do love my amp. My amp now feels like a wife and the Ceres a hot little side piece ;).

If you have been thinking of getting a KSR amp and dont want to drop the coin to get an amp model get the Ceres. Seriously its that good.

Great pedal, but you can't get the hiss out with a decimator without choking it. Signal is too hot,and If you match the output to the gate,it's volume is so low I had to dime my ultraleads master. If you are used to having a noisy rig,no biggie.

Much prefer my Gemini. Great loop and power section. Far more tones.

I agree OP it's almost too good. I've had the Diezel preamp pedals and the BE-OD and it smokes them.

I think something is either up with yours or it doesn't like your power/rig. I haven't had any noise issues at all and I don't think I've heard anyone else mention it either.

Turn the gain up and down. You will hear the preamp hiss level rise and fall. That is the noise I am talking about. It is present in any high gain situation.

I put my Juno master on 2:00 and did just that with both the pedal and the amp after your first post and there was no discernable difference between the two. One of my first impressions of the pedal was how quiet it was without a noise gate, which is why I was thinking something might be up with yours.

Where do you set your gain at?

Yeah mine is pretty quiet too. I ran it into the effects loop of my Orthos and straight into my interface into the Wall of Sound Plugin in my daw. Even with the gain dimed it's still pretty quiet. I rolled the gain up and down but didnt get anything out of the ordinary. Tried it with Seymour Duncan Nazgul and Lace Dissonant aggressors pickups(granted neither are active) but didnt have any issues. Shoot Kyle an email. Maybe something is off on yours?

I have texted Kyle about this issue.

But do you guys hear hiss at all? Does it rise and fall based on the amount of gain you are using?

And if you do use a gate/decimator after the pedal, does the hiss go away? Many guitarist are so used to preamp hiss they consider it "typical". Yes,some rigs have more hiss than others. But even a little hiss drives me bonkers, hence my use of gates in any rig to provide dead-nuts quiet.

Edit. There is preamp hiss on my Gemini that can be removed with a decimator, but the amp has levels for the send and return. This allows me to tailor the signal level to suit the gate. I suspect what I consider as noise, you both consider as par for the course.
